Hey, I had a bit of a thought. When it comes to basic physics, Sand will outright turn to glass when exposed to high enough temperatures. Luffy is literally the sun... and while I know he's trying not to rely on his own Logia-ness and you're most likely moving towards him unlocking his Haki at this point, he could literally win the fight now.

Essentially every One Piece fanfiction is incredibly on rails and lots of effort needs to be put into even small deviations from canon. Any fic that tries to deviate significantly from canon will just end up having to create entire islands and arcs from scratch. It is true that MHA is also pretty on rails for a while but in the case of MHA there’s the advantage that Izuku didn’t already beat the strongest character in the arc every arc. Luffy almost invariably beats the strongest enemy in every arc so if you make him stronger it just turns into closer to a curb stomp every fight. Whereas Izuku doesn’t fight the strongest opponent in an arc up until arguably Stain and even then a stronger Izuku can also fight some strong Nomus or something or beat Stain alone instead of in a group.

So I guess it's either that OP is good enough that people don't need to write fics about it or it overstayed its welcome or both.
