The Past Month and Current Plans!
Added 2024-11-03 20:49:10 +0000 UTCHey! I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween!
This month has been a bit crazy for me. Many unexpected things happened!
Fishing World Release!
First, I finally released the fishing world! What a big surprise, tons of people enjoying it, like 10x more than I thought there would be!
If you followed some of my older posts, I originally took a break from the fishing world while I focused on other projects. But it kept being pushed further and further until I realized that it's a waste for it to rot on my hard drive. So I just simplified and released it!
The reception was so awesome that I cut short some other plans I had, so I could improve the fishing world and even make a small Halloween event!
Spookality Winner!
By the way, the thing I cut short was another world I wanted to do for October. It's a small Halloween world for the VRChat spookality jam! It's like a competition hosted by VRChat. And it actually won! It wasn't the most amazing maps out of the winners, but I'm still proud for getting up there.
You can find it in the "Fractured Realm" world row! Here is the world page if you're curious: https://vrchat.com/home/world/wrld_e7884b60-b420-4c1a-9e5d-01659cd3f9a3
I'd love to get some feedback for it. Do you want a map like this? I tried watching some people play and it ranges from underwhelming to surprisingly suspenseful to play once you give it a chance. So a mixed bag and I can't tell if it just needs more polish or if the machincs need to be different. Like maybe more hiding spots. Either way, I want to return to this world or something similar someday!
Plans
But first, my plan is to focus on the fishing world for a while. I have some ideas, but I'm curious what you think the world lacks?
I will prioritize quality of life and convenience features first and foremost. So stuff like video player and left handed support. Let me know if you got any annoyances that you want me to fix!
After that, I'm looking into adding more content, which I'm still figuring out how. The halloween candy event showed me that grinding for numbers can be fun, but not when it feels like you are forced to do so and stressed. So I will attempt to make a better system that takes this into account!
I'm thinking about adding more difficult to catch fish and maybe a system that rewards playing the world naturally over a long time. Similar to a point or level system, but without arbitrary requirements. So make it more of a slow burn grind? Idk I'm just inventing terms here.
???
Thanks for reading if you came this far! I'm currently trying to wind down from all the crazyness this month and felt like doing an update since I haven't in a bit. But I don't even know how many people are reading this. Over the past few months, I saw a bunch of people join in the new "free" patreon tier they added. Do you receive these types of posts? Just curious. But either way, thanks so much for eveyone's support!
