Hey there!
Here is another update for the social elimination project!
As announced last post, we tried out a bunch of new things and tried to solidify the "identity" of the project, if you will. I got some valuable data thanks to everyone that helped us test the map out.
The main issue is that it felt lacking no matter what I did... Like something is missing.
After some back and forth, I realized the problem! It's the fact that it was too confusing. People had no idea what's going. Also, chosing prompts didn't feel as rewarding as I hoped.
This helped me come up with a plan.
The way the game will work now is very similar to Cards Against Humanity. However, instead of gaining points, you will loose points. So each time you don't win, you get ZAPPED and become closer to being disqualified (aka, getting "DEAD" status).
This way, it is still elimination style, like I intended it, but with a more familiar system. Also, people will be able to stay in the game longer instead of instantly die, which is a huge plus.
Overall, I'll simplify the whole flow and make it as clear as possible what is happening at each step.
I'm shooting to have another playtest towards the end of the month.
This time, it will be VERY close to the finished version, so be excited for that!
