March Update: "Extra Noodles"

Greetings Space Citizens!

The Great Overhaul Part II has arrived! DOWNLOAD ON ITCH.IO!

There's a ton of stuff in this patch, including two big new features we're super happy to introduce to everyone.

First of all, there are some new interactions at the Ramen Den, Membar and Memorial Wall. You can now get a drink, snack on some tasty ramen, or even donate to charity! These interactions will give you a temporary stat buff or debuff, or alter your reputation. Buyer beware, it's a post-apocalyptic world and some of the ingredients might be a little questionable. 🥴

Secondly, every part of the ship now can now appear online or taken offline depending on events that happen during certain quests. It's even possible to change control between various groups and factions! Most of this new info can be viewed from the ship navigation screen, including a preview of each location's services. These new features are what underpin our upcoming mega-quest for Act II, so stay tuned!

One thing that didn't make the cut but we are incredibly excited about is that we will soon have music! There are numerous tracks we're looking to weave into quests and the time-of-day system. We decided that rather than roll this out piecemeal that we would rather release it all at once, so look for this in an upcoming patch soon!

Thanks for all your awesome support and keeping the flavor flame alive. The world might be burning down, and perhaps things are dark at times, but just like on the Galatea - we're all in it together. 😎

- March "Extra Noodles" Patch Notes -

New Content:

• Added ability to visit the Ramen Den for a meal. This will give you a temporary stat buff.
• Added ability to visit the MemBar for a drink. This will give you a temporary stat debuff.
• Added ability to visit the Memorial Wall to either donate or 'borrow' credits. This will alter your general reputation.
• Locations now have an online/offline status and tooltips for their services, control group, and faction info.
• New death route + some additional stuff for 'Like a Book' quest.

Tweaks:

• Character names have been consolidated and are now mostly assigned during the intro.
• Citizen_01 is now called 'Chintz', Citizen_02 is now 'Tomma', and Ramenkeep is now 'Anastasia'.
• Ven-O-Matic becomes 'Phobos' after their transformation.
• Most miniquests now use random characters instead of quest characters.
• Foreman hops a bit less during the intro.
• Foreman is now kicked instead of stomped during the intro, with more impact.
• Removed text bolding from a large number of tooltips and choices.
• The Galatea and surrounding rocks have been repositioned.
• A certain word has been replaced with the more urbane sounding 'genitalia'.
• Some tooltip windows and buttons have been moved around.
• Pop effect has been reduced for most UI elements.
• Names for the time of day have been changed to be more earth-typical.
• Started switching icons over to those from openmoji.
• Main transition to the shipnav screen has been smoothed out and also resets the UI.

Technical:

• All main characters now use the counter system for quest timing. Quests should now fire about 7 days after the previous leg.
• Added 5 new music/sfx channels in prep for implementing the soundtrack.
• Some music will now automatically change based on the time of day. (debug mode only for now)
• The Foreman's assets and code have been merged into the middle girlfriend.
• Quest marker display for main characters has been merged into the new location info system.
• Most tooltips are now mutually exclusive.
• Removed a lot of unused code and variables.

Fixes:

• Fixed crash in VN2 quest caused by a missing random response value.
• Fixed inability to exit VN2 quest before the transformation sequence.
• Fixed inability to repeat VN2 quest under certain circumstances.
• Fixed choice menus in VN2 so that they properly reduce as you advance.
• Fixed missing tooltips for some topbar buttons.
• Fixed mouse-over areas for some topbar buttons.
• Fixed a number of typos in UI and Quests.
• Fixed incorrect naming of Mr. Gifted during his 'special' quest.
• Fixed quest tracker registering values higher than 100%.
• Fixed bug that caused your home to be auto-highlighted after the second day.
• Note: The Fast-Forward function has been known to stop some minor UI animations from completing during scene transitions. These animations should reset if you visit ship navigation.
