Progress Report - Week of 2024/06/30
Added 2024-07-07 19:31:55 +0000 UTCHello, all! Fourth of July was last week, so I took an additional day off to get unreasonably drunk and explode shit with my friends, and just barely missed out on my typical thirty-hour work week goal as a result. That said, the twenty-nine-hour-forty-five-minute work week that I wound up having instead was very productive! I got a new video finished and released (which you are all currently able to watch and share with your friends!) and also got a very good start at watching the anime that are coming out during this (very disappointing) summer season! Here's a breakdown of what I've been up to.
NO ANIME CLUB: I was still getting over the very tail end of my sickness on Sunday, so I cancelled anime club thinking that I wouldn't have to energy to get through the whole thing. I'm glad I did, because the discussion we wound up having on the 7th was so much more engaging and fun than I think I would've been up for on the 30th, but you can hear about that in next week's report. Just thought I would bring it up here because you're all entitled to know why I skip things.
VIDEO EDITING: The long haul! Video editing is (obviously) the part of video production that takes the most time and effort. Even though I don't find it as mentally draining and exhausting as script writing, it definitely takes the most concerted effort of any part of the process, as you can tell by the fact that it's all I did on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. Editing the video took a total of roughly twenty-two hours and twenty-eight minutes, working out to around 1.25 hours of editing time per minute of video, which is a significantly faster time than my average of 1.6 hours of editing per minute. That's surprising to me, since I felt like I was using significantly more unique images than usual in this video, but the numbers don't lie! Anyway, the important thing is that I got it done. Hopefully you all enjoyed it!
POST-PROCESSING: This is stuff like making thumbnails and uploading the video to various platforms. Researching what tags I should put in the video description. That kind of thing.
RESEARCH: And now on to the fun part! I haven't started re-watching The Apothecary Diaries for the next video yet. That's going to start on Monday and probably go through Tuesday if not Wednesday. This research was all going down the seasonal list and seeing what Summer 2024 has to offer us. Which is. . . literally nothing so far. This might legitimately be the weakest anime season I have ever seen, in terms of newly airing shows. Of everything that's aired so far, I'm going to continue watching one, maybe two shows. Tasuuketsu, which I'm watching because it seems like an absolute trash fire that I'm going to adore unironically, and My Wife Has No Emotion, which I'm watching because there is literally no better way to spend my anime-watching time this season and I want to see if this loser fucks his toaster. That's it. Hopefully they're just saving some of the better stuff to air later in the season, because it really seems like the studios all saw that Oshi no Ko 2 was coming out and said they weren't going to try to compete with that.
Anyway, you're up to date! Hope you all liked the Delicious in Dungeon review, and I'll talk to you next week with another progress report!
