Progress Report - Week of 2024/07/28

Hello, all! This progress report is going to be a little less structured and formal than usual, because I frankly just didn't really time things last week and don't know exactly how much time I spent doing different activities, so I'm just going to vaguely get you up to speed on how the new video is coming along and where I'm at when it comes to productivity and such. Here it goes!

ADHD STUFF: As I've mentioned before, I'm trying to stop taking my (very effective) stimulant medication on account of how it's bad for my heart. This transition. . . isn't going particularly well. I'm on a new non-stimulant med that should've started showing results by now, but it just isn't doing anything (except possibly making me really sleepy in the middle of the day). Now, we should also keep in mind that taking extensive notes and writing scripts are the most executive-function-intensive parts of the video making process, so it's entirely possible that the meds are working and I'm just suffering through the same parts of Youtubing that I always have trouble with. But I have a general idea of what it feels like when my brain pills are doing their job, and we'll just say that this doesn't feel like that. I've got a doctor's appointment on Tuesday, and we'll talk about more options then. In the meantime, thanks for your patience. I've had a good run of productivity lately, and it means a lot that you all are sticking with me through this little stumble.

VIDEO PROGRESS: As far as actual progress on the Apothecary Diaries video goes, I'd say I'm about halfway through the script. Most days, I'll sit down to work on it, and my brain will absolutely refuse to get a single word on the paper, but through that process, I've still managed to write about 1300 words. It's going to need some organizational revisions when it's done, but mostly I think it's going to come out to be a good video.

OTHER STUFF: I finally finished watching through the entire seasonal list, and damn, absolutely nothing really stands out as being super special. The show I'm personally most excited about is Bye Bye, Earth, which is a fun fantasy show about a half-human-half-human girl in a world full of beastmen trying to find a place where she belongs. Other than that, No Longer Allowed in Another World was very funny, but I'm not sure that humor is going to last for an entire twelve-episode anime. Elusive Samurai looks really good, but I'm personally just not much of a fan of military historical stuff like that. There are a couple of other shows that looked interesting or that I wouldn't mind watching more of, but those are the three that most stand out to me.

Sorry for keeping things a bit bare-bones this week, but that's where I'm at right now. Hopefully by next week I'll have some significant progress done and be able to post the drafts of the new script, with hopes to publish by the 11th. Don't hold me to that, since it's very dependent on how well my brain chemistry plays along, but that's the plan for now! See you next week.
