I have some good news and some not-so-good news.
First, the good news:
✅ The Android version is ready and available for download.
As before, to avoid problems with download bandwidth limits, the link will first be released to sponsors in a next separate post.
Depending on demand, the link will be released to other members of this page next week (no fixed date at this time).
And then, after a while, it will be released to the general public.
I tested it here and everything seems to be OK!
❌ Now for the not-so-good news.
For some reason I don't yet know, the plan to just download the new content, reusing part of the existing download, didn't work
In order for it to work, I had to uninstall the old downloader and reinstall the new one. And of course, then download the entire game again 😕
Which took a considerable amount of time (9 minutes here)
The good part is that at least apparently the previous saves remain... BUT... Android is a complex system, it depends on many versions, devices... I really can't guarantee that the same thing will happen for everyone.
And unfortunately, I have no idea how to back up saves on Android. If anyone knows, please comment and I'll post it here.
It's also important to note that during the download, the process was interrupted twice due to a connection failure, but then I just had to click retry or restart the download, which finished without any problems.
So it really depends on when you're downloading and the connection between your device and the server.
If you get an error, try again.
-------
I would really like this whole process to be easier and less obstacle-filled for Android users.
But the system doesn't really make life easy for games larger than 2GB, and unfortunately I'm not an Android expert who can think of ways to improve the experience.
I'm doing what I can to make the game available for this platform in the least traumatic way possible. 😬
