In Need of Thoughts from my Beloved Supporters
Added 2017-12-17 23:18:40 +0000 UTCHey guys :)
I just wanted to check in with all of you on a few things that I've been wrestling with.
As supporters who obviously think investing in my novel is worthwhile, I want your honest thoughts on improving my Patreon site. I know that my pace is slow (seems like I've become known for that) but besides that, I just want to hear directly from you guys on what I can do to better provide so that both sides come out happy!
Comment below or send me a private message!
Thank you,

If i may ask something for christmas, I would love too see a awesome picture of Arthur! Tess's looked exactly like i thought she would so now im curious to see how you would have Arthur drawn out as!
2017-12-24 19:15:57 +0000 UTCJust like Matthew explained, there are various types of authors. I happen to be the more instinctual type. The only sort of planning I do is in my head when I'm about to go to sleep or if there's traffic on the road. Besides that, I just try to keep track of the characters, and their key attributes, like you said Steve. Thanks for the well-thought-out points though guys :)

2017-12-20 00:42:14 +0000 UTCDepends, most authors are quite meticulous in their planning and usually write out how the story should go, in what order, what points should be emphasized and those that should be minor. It's a good strategy, even if occasionally it leaves glaring plot holes that were overlooked. If you're going by there being two different types of authors, planners and pantsers, pantsers go about it in a more instinctual and on the fly manner, making writing easier in a LOT of ways, especially on the matter of pacing. If someone plans out a story they can wreck the pacing over a very, very large portion of the book and only see it when it is read in it's entirety, leading to a major editing session more than just correct grammatical errors and phrasing. Same can happen with just writing on the fly and you miss important details; whatever. Fact is, depends on the person, some people write by feel and totally botch it, some people write through plans over months and months and completely botch it. There's no one size fits all, hell, he may already be writing out plot points and then following into them.

2017-12-19 19:25:29 +0000 UTCI don’t know if you already have something to use to help keep track of major points in character devlopment and interactions (which I’m sure I’m just being ignorant to normal methods authors use) but maybe to go along with the gradual increase in story have a type of character storyboard that outlines major plot points and character traits that would reduce the amount of excess thought required to keep things in order? I’m not sure if my idea will help but I figure I’d at least see what you think after being heard.

2017-12-18 17:53:59 +0000 UTCThanks for the advice, Matthew! Yes, I definitely do need to build up my writing speed, but I've realized the further into the book I get, the more things I have to think about and take into account which makes it a bit harder. Look out for changes in Patreon though. :)

2017-12-18 17:52:58 +0000 UTCTruthfully, I can't really point to any one thing and say improve it, I'm a laid back author's son. Sure, if you wanted you could increase word count and it may not affect quality, but that is really dependent on how much experience you have in writing. Taken from mi padre, he tries to write ~2000 words a day, every day. Any jumps in writing speed should be gradual, just keep the rhythm up.
