September Update

hello little birds!

been a good while since I put out a general update, so I figured I'd post one to let you all know a bit about how things have been lately.  first things first, to all of my new Patrons: WELCOME, AND THANK YOU SO MUCH!  a fair few of you have joined in over the past couple of months, and I'm so glad to have you, it means so much!

unfortunately, although a good number of new patrons have joined in, a fair number of them have left as well, and at the moment Patreon is once again my only source of income.  so if you know anyone who's in a position to spend a few dollars a month on short experimental computer games, please direct them my way, every little bit helps!

these past couple of months have been unusually tough.  i've taken a couple of pretty serious emotional knocks that have made it extremely hard to socialize (hence the silence on here and on Twitter), as well as aforementioned losing-of-day-job putting me back into a position of financial stress.  however, thanks to all of you, i'm in a much better position than I was a year ago, and I'll never be able to adequately express how helpful it is.  you're all the best <3

and here's the upswing to all this:  when my day-job fell through I resolved to manage myself and my time a lot better than last time I was full-time developing, and it's worked out very well!  i've been taking great pains to take care of myself more-- waking up early, eating better, exercising, giving up alcohol, and so on-- and as a result i've been the most productive i've been in a very long time!  i've been proud of the amount of work I put in each day, and I've begun teaching myself all manner of things I'm long overdue to learn, like animation, coding, and several fantastic Unity extensions I bought but never played with.  in short, things got pretty dark for a while, but it's all looking much brighter now!

lastly, a bit of an announcement: since I've been having so much fun with the game I've been working on this month, and since I've been miserably negligent of my beloved $1- and $3-tier patrons, I've decided that when I release this month's game in early October I will do so for all Patrons of all tiers!  just a bit of a thank you to everyone for being so kind, generous, supportive, and an all-around wonderful part of my life.  i hope you'll all enjoy it, too-- i've certainly enjoyed working on it, and I can't wait to share it with you.
