'¥$ - BURN' Breakdown

What's up, patrons!

We have another exciting breakdown from ¥$'s new album 'Vultures 1', offering an in-depth and highly accurate recreation of the song 'BURN'. This track was produced by Kanye West, Azul, Morten “Rissi” Ristorp, Chrishan, The Legendary Traxster, and Leon Thomas III.

This was surprisingly one of our most challenging remakes to date, with a total project time of 29 hours spent recreating every aspect of the song, including the sample itself.

'BURN' samples the 1976 song 'Love Me or Leave Me' by A Band of Thieves. The sample contains 5 unique guitar patterns, strings playing with various articulations, and a subtle choir. I spoke to a professional guitarist who was able to help decipher the exact guitar models used and their effect chains.

The drums presented a fascinating breakdown, in which the producers chopped the drum loop from the sample and beefed it up with Izotope's "Trash", ironically one of their best plugins. Additional trap drums were also layered to enhance the loop.
