'¥$ - CARNIVAL' Breakdown

"What's up guys it's Aiden",

Today we have a crazy breakdown in stall for you, the highly requested "CARNIVAL" remake. Attached to this post are some of the most challenging and unique sounds that I've ever had to recreate. So read along if you want to learn more about this process. If not, take good care of those files, as this project alone took me 29 hours to complete.

Chant:

One of the biggest challenges I faced in remaking this song was in redesigning the live components, in particular the powerful vocal chant. I quickly realised how the chant was one of the main components of this beat. Yet no one else has tried to recreate the sound with VSTs. This is because no such VST even exists for making good crowd vocals like this.

You hear the exact same style of crowd chant in the song "Kernkraft 400 (Sport Stadium Chant Remix)."

The reason I mention this song is the chant is such an iconic sound, but it really seems like you simply can't make it without hiring a large choir. I mean... You could technically record each voice yourself, but that process sounds incredibly uninspiring.

I scoured the internet to find any vocal library that even slightly resembled the choir in "CARNIVAL", and the closest sounding pack I found was the Atelier Anthem Choir library, a plugin specifically designed for creating vocal anthems. You can find it here: https://musicalsampling.com/anthemchoir/.

This an older library, so if you use Kontakt you will need to download the older version (Kontakt 5) to properly open the library. We added a couple more layers with some distortion, chorus and reverb and voila, the chant was complete.

Bass:

This was another challenging one. The bass in "CARNIVAL" was aggressive and complex. We recreated the sound by combining a deep 808 with a Reese bass, then adding some heavy distortion and OTT to bring out the high end. I have attached the bass playing at different pitches for use in your own beats.

That's all I want to touch on today. Super excited for the premiere.

Keep an eye out for that video later on this week!

Talk soon.
