Work on Honcho is currently focused on getting the screwdriver fully implemented into the game. To achieve this, we need to add functionality for all components installed with the screwdriver, which includes Headlights and Indicators.
Headlights and indicators now function like other components on the truck. They have a set condition and attributes, can rust and even roll unique attributes such as colour tint and energy saving.
In addition to implementing these new components, we've also focused on adding in the functionality for electrical drain to batteries for everything from headlights to the radio, making alternators a now more important component to maintain on your truck.
Talking of radios, we've also showcased a digital variant over on Bluesky. The MINSKWOOD KTC-7650.
Kusahiro have had a significant rebalance. They'll now spawn on routes with greater rust and damage, with their paint type always being "faded". Any liquids on kusahiro components will be much closer to empty, with only a slight chance at fuel. This is to address concerns with players not needing to use the petrol stations, as fuel was so abundant in kusahiro parts they could just pour from those. Finally, it's also much less likely that the kusahiro type spawned will be Daizo T360, and instead will be the Batako type trucks.
Work will continue on screwdriver components, after which I'll be moving onto getting a new town and route environment into the game.
Whilst Minskworks has received some publisher interest, we're yet to secure funding for the project. The backers of the project have honestly been a real lifeline for us, and we're incredibly grateful. I don't think I express that enough. So, thank you.
Honcho hasn't managed to get covered by any news outlets, hasn't done very well on social media, and has a middling interest on Steam wishlists. In fact, Honcho has 10x fewer wishlists than Easy Delivery Co. A game it shares the genre space with. How I'm handling promotion of the game is incredibly poor. So I wanted to say I'm aware of this, and I'm sorry.
I'm going to continue to pester publishers and work more on trying to reach out to news outlets and content creators. As much as I want to be a hermit tinkering away on his truck, it's pretty irresponsible of me to not make more of an effort promoting this thing.
Anyway, thank you again for all the support.
Keep on trucking.
