Carburetors

Or Carburettors as we'll refer to them from here on. 

Trying to keep the momentum going so I can get this demo out ASAP. As listed before on what's needed to hit a demo, I mentioned that one aspect needing attention was better vehicle components. What I essentially meant here is that the game needs more carrot on a stick for players to chase. What's the point in being a delivery driver if you've got nothing to feed your ambition?

For the demo, I'm thinking we'll start with 3 base models for each components. So that means 3 base engine models, 3 base carburettors, etc. This does not include the variety produced by modifiers that can roll on the components (turbo chargers, material type, etc).

Base Carburettors

The first of the 3 Carburettors is the Daizo P/N 16100-5K, which comes as the standard carburettor on the 356cc AK250E I4, the 547cc E05A I3 and the 356cc N360E I2  Daizo engines.

The Daizo P/N 16100-5K has the following base stats*:

Base Power Increase - 100%
Base Fuel Efficiency - 100%
Base Throttle Response - 100%

Condition - 100%
Weight - 3.24kg
Value - ¥5,311

The second of the 3 Carburettors is the Kaihin PWK, which is a carburettor that needs to be found on abandoned Kusahiro, purchased from scrap part dealers, or found on route.

The Kaihin PWK has the following base stats*:

Base Power Increase - 120%
Base Fuel Efficiency - 110%
Base Throttle Response - 125%

Condition - 100%
Weight - 2.60kg
Value - ¥6,373

The third of the 3 Carburettors is the Mikuni VM, which is a carburettor that needs to be found on abandoned Kusahiro, purchased from scrap part dealers, or found on route.

The Mikuni VM has the following base stats*:

Base Power Increase - 110%
Base Fuel Efficiency - 100%
Base Throttle Response - 110%

Condition - 100%
Weight - 2.92kg
Value - ¥5,842

*Stats to be balanced and adjusted as the game develops.

Carburettor Modifiers

As with all the vehicle components, carburettors can be found with various special modifiers. The modifier system is something that is still developing, but already carburettors can appear with various base materials and special mechanics. Think of these modifiers of how ARPG games have base weapon types but also magic weapon types that have +X to damage.

The current modifiers that can appear on carburettors is as follows :

Each component can spawn with one of each, with varying degrees of rarity. Post-demo, I hope to add a master-working system where players can craft super performant components.

Anyway, I post this to share with you how much work is going into something as dull as a carburettor. Don't be deceived by the cute graphics, there's a whole lot of simulation going on under the hood of Honcho.
