Wet Weather

Spent the week implementing wet weather visual effects and also improving on the animations shown last week.

Improved Animations

The animations shown last week were a bit ropey and I wasn't happy with them. Hand's didn't connect with points of contact, and movements were too fast. I've gone through and refined or reworked all of them. Movements are slower, and Keiko now makes correct contact with each point in the truck.

Although the truck is a small kei class vehicle, Keiko is quite short, so for any items not within reach, Keiko will now lean over to reach them, though be careful reaching around in the truck while driving, as she can struggle to see over the dashboard.

Windscreen Effects

Jalopy's windscreen effect was ultra basic to fit the simple style of the game. Honcho's aesthetic allows more flexibility, so I've implemented a more true to life solution.

During rain conditions, water and fog both accumulate on the windscreen hampering vision. Wipers can clear a bit of it but during heavy rain conditions, fog and droplets accumulate quickly.

Each droplet is driven by physics, both gravity and momentum of the car. This adds a really nice visual dynamic to the driving experience.

Rain Effects

I've done a fair bit of work on getting the rain to look more 'wet'. For the droplets, this meant a combination of emission and metallic maps to create a nice shiny gloop effect.

Upon impact, I've repackaged the liquid system so that the rain not only forms splashes, but also puddles.

The result is a shiny, wet looking world when conditions require it.
