Mermay '22 - 'Symbiotic'

But treachery and hate brought destruction to the Beacon City, and a great storm sank it beneath the waves. Only Ahes Dahut, the Princess of Kernev, remained, trapped by a powerful curse in the form of a mermaid in the silent city beneath the waves. Driven by her loneliness, Ahes sought to recreate the spell that cursed her, transforming other lonely souls into mermaids, rebuilding her city and her family.
Adele and Fleur lived as a pair of impovrished rogues in the city of Gwitreg, living under the heel of powerful crime lords and apathetic nobles. Adele, with a small amount of magical talent, protected her friend, getting her out of scrapes, until Fleur ran afoul of a powerful faerie lord. Sent to steal a powerful artefact from Ahes Dahut, Queen of Ys-Beneath-the-Waves, the pair found themselves in literal deep water. But, as they became Marie-Morgane, they're true feelings for each other came to light. Now they happily live in the Beacon City, supporting each other and helping their new sisters rebuild their home and protect it from outside threats as members of the Merrow Assassin Order.

This year, I'm going to try the Mermay challenge once more with more pictures of the Marie-Morgane of Ys-Beneath-the-Waves, from my fantasy series Kroashent, inspired by the folklore and history of Brittany. I think that Fleur and Adele are a really cute couple, and its a lot of fun to draw them together.
