Behold! The Nissan L28 Engine

After much struggling, the engine is finally out of the car

This thing is a heckin' chonker. "Only" a 2.8 liter engine, but it's very tall, very long, and very heavy.

After Cleaning^ It turns out there was aluminum and paint under all the grime! It was hours and hours of scrubbing to get to this point

I didn't expect to see blue either! Very faded, but it's a nice color for an engine

Once it was clean, I tore off every ancillary component. Honestly, I think the only things going back on the car are the alternator and engine mounts 😅

The very messy L-Jetronic EFI system^

All of it gone^ It still needs some more scrubbing of course, but wow it looks so much cleaner already. This is honestly not far from how minimal the finished product should be!

The new electronic throttle body is so much cleaner than the old manual throttle body, and it also replaces two additional antiquated analog components not pictured 🙂

Design and fab work starts today! I was able to secure a sponsorship with a CNC manufacturing company, so all adapter plates and brackets needed to make this modern EFI conversion happen will be covered by them. Very fortunate to have that, and very excited to start modding!
