280Z Dyno Testing!
Added 2025-03-06 16:45:13 +0000 UTCBefore this thing goes under the knife for modernization upgrades, I wanted to get a baseline for how it’s performing now.
It came out to a whopping 125 horsepower, or 93 kilowatts. Not bad for a 47 year old engine! But also not good for what’s supposed to be a sports car 😅
It won't be to long before the engine is out of the car and cleaned up!
Comments
125 whp is probably the limit of what I’d consider safe on those skinny old tyres.

2025-03-07 16:33:27 +0000 UTCThat is not bad at all, especially for a car that sat for a long time. I think new piston rings and some relapped valve seats will do the trick to free up some more horsepower.

2025-03-06 18:40:11 +0000 UTCThat's a lot less escaped ponies than I thought. Looking forward to this and to see you dip you toe back into two wheels. That electric Triumph sounds like a right challenge

2025-03-06 17:14:39 +0000 UTCThe power is relative…you have to look a weight (lbs or kg) per HP. Then it won’t look to bad I think. Cars nowadays are much heavier.

2025-03-06 16:58:30 +0000 UTCAn all-motor ITB build would be awesome 👀 it's what I want to do with my 635csi once it's back on the road.
