Delayed Input 1001 Post-Show Assessment
Added 2023-04-02 19:00:06 +0000 UTCThis was a weird episode. It's the move-in episode, the office around me is largely empty at the time of recording, which is why the audio sounds so small and echoey. But I was grateful to have a Delayed Input to produce--it was like a hard time limit for how long the move could possibly take.
I had bought a bunch of bright, shimmering party streamers for this season's backdrop, but something I didn't think about ahead of time is how intoxicating that would be to a cat, who would probably try to immediately tear it down. So I scrapped the streamers, and fortunately had a huge U-Haul moving blanket nearby. Its thick padding worked a little to make the room sound better, but also honestly I kind of like the texture. It is grey and bland though, so that forced my hand on choosing neon for the shirt theme this season.
Overall I feel kind of lucky a sufficient episode popped out this week. I wasn't in peak mental condition necessarily. I had only watched the Zelda thing earlier that day, and was surprised to have found it really interesting, and that kind of naturally tied well into the news(?) that E3 was cancelled. I'm saying if neither of those two big stories happened this week, I would have been in trouble. You would have gotten like, 20 strained minutes of me struggling to explain why experience points are actually good.
QUESTIONS FROM YOU!
Is the kissing of soccer players specifically on your mind because of Ted Lasso
I was trying to think of an exciting career that wasn't gender specific. But also yeah I bet we can blame it on Ted Lasso.
How in the living hell did you remember the Microsoft HoloLens b.s.?
I'm a spiteful person and those things stick to me.
I’m so sad about no pink hair arc 😞
It was looking a little ragged in the end there, the bangs were full crusty yellow blonde.
I was watching some of your older Delayed Inputs and I like it when you have a little background music. It doesn't seem that you use it much anymore. Is there specific reason why, or just because?
The switch happened when I did that season with no backdrop, the natural season. (I think 7?) Even if it's less comfy I like the tone more without the music, feels less like I'm trying to manipulate the audience. That said I did consider bringing the old music back this week to hide the poor audio.
Man, it's hard to focus on your face with that bright of a shirt. I think pink hair or something could help.

And that's it for today! Tonight/this week I hope to really spruce up the new office a bit. I don't think anything will change visually so much but hopefully it'll sound like I'm speaking to you inches from your face again. And one thing I forgot to try--blame the moving haze--is integrating a funny joke into Delayed Input, so I'm going to give that a shot next week.
