Delayed Input 907 Post-Show Assessment
Added 2023-02-26 21:13:05 +0000 UTC^There's another example where I struggle with a specific line and then just use the first take despite all the extra attempts.
This was a weird episode. I was honestly a little disappointed when I saw that Suicide Squad would be the primary focus of the State of Play--I love doing recaps/reviews of live showcases, but we just had a whole episode about Suicide Squad this very season. In my gut I was hoping there would be some weird, wild thing that happened before all the Suicide Squad.
But you know what else? When you're doing this kind of thing--personality-driven punditry?--you certainly have to admit when you were wrong, but also you have to show up to boast when you got something right. That's what they do on the sports shows anyway. In this case it was mostly like "oh lookat that, I was right," and we quickly move on, but you can tell it's a boast.
It's probably also obvious to you as a viewer that there wasn't enough material to make the whole ep about Suicide Squad or the whole ep about little State of Play nitpicks, and I just decided to do both. That transition halfway through the video, "oh by the way the theme of this episode is bad ideas," is probably my favorite part. It's a weekly YouTube show, we can really do whatever we want.
QUESTIONS FROM YOU!
What's something you've made or starred in that you wish you could scrub from the internet?
Everything that I wished to have scrubbed has been scrubbed. I remember writing a couple of emails after my first GameTrailers videos went up, like "Hey any chance you can set that to private??" Still, there are lots of jokes I wish I never made.
if given the opportunity, what's a bad idea of your own you'd like to inject into a State of Play?
I'd produce one that feels like it was made in the 90s. We'd take quick breaks to reveal some cheat codes and I'd set up games like Humanity with "This next game's gonna make Nintendo fans cry to their mommies:"
Do you have high hopes for a BIG State of Play some time this Summer?
Extremely high hopes, considering that's Spider-Man 2 gameplay reveal time.
Will Metroid Prime 2 remaster receive the same care as 1 or will they just port it with higher res and dual analogues?
Rumor has it that Retro was assigned Prime 4 after their work on Prime Remastered was looking so good. I think there's no way Prime 2 would get the same effort until after Prime 4 is out, unless there's some other studio willing to replace every texture while retaining the exact same source code. And I really don't imagine Nintendo rushing to do anything, so I don't think a half-effort re-release is more likely.
If you could make any video game protagonist simply stop talking outside of cutscenes, who would it be?
So in Fire Emblem Engage, in an attempt to give each character personality, a lot of them like to gab after they murder someone. Like "Whew, it's like they're making this TOO easy!" or "Whoops, messed up my hair a little there!" But then they can just die immediately after that. They constantly forget they're in a war.
Add Shinnok to the initial MK12 roster, and the game will instantly sell 7 millions copies day one. GUARNATEED
THANK YOU
I agree with you that Capcom seems to have advanced the hitstop state of the art beyond Sakurai’s vision. Which Smash character would most benefit from this new design philosophy?
Obvious answer is Kirby
What were Mucho's thoughts on the state of play ?
Absolutely zero interest
And that's it for today! Next week brings the finale of Season 9, which means I only get one more video to hide my pink hair in. Pretty wild we've had an Xbox Direct, Nintendo Direct, and State of Play all in one season, I don't know if I've been that lucky yet. There's a Pokémon Direct happening this week, that could even be something. There probably won't be any big Pokémon news, but I think the creatures themselves can be very silly, potentially the perfect material for me to slip my first funny joke into Delayed Input.
