Delayed Input 905 Post-Show Assessment
Added 2023-02-12 21:00:43 +0000 UTCThis was a weird episode. Back in December I was visiting a friend, and he was about to donate a stack of Nintendo Powers. I said, "Can you donate this one to me??" and said, "sure." I thought about doing a bonus bit about that FMV letter before, but it felt forced. So I just got kind of lucky when I was writing this week's episode and realized I was still sitting on that. It's nice to kick off a video with a strong prop sometimes too.
I think it could have been a more even review of the Nintendo Direct, balancing out the things I liked and didn't like, but really after the setup with the old magazine transitioning into Zelda's new price, the tone was pretty much set. I still wanted to mention the stuff I liked so it got a little 10-second montage at the very end.
Also this is crazy--a YouTube comment pointed out that I never actually did cut the line about riding a dog in Pikmin 4. I was so sure I cut it out that I thought it would be a waste of time to even check. I feel a little dumb about that.
But generally this was a fun episode to produce and I was glad to have a big Direct to dig into. I've said this a few times in these posts but I'm feeling it again this week especially--I wonder if my dry attitude is getting a little "put on," or if that's just my truthful energy level. I might try to do something wacky in the future just to add some tonal variety.
QUESTIONS FROM YOU!
In lieu of an outtake, show us what's inside your fridge.

If you were to discover that Fortnite used tootsee roll as a direct result of their devs watching your video.. would you be A) Pleased that your gospel has reach, B) Dismayed that the biggest soulsuck in the industry wasted such a precious opportunity
I truly think it's coincidental--I imagine the animations and contracts take weeks for even little things like that. It's just Tootsee Roll's time again.
You used to make wild E3 predictions back in the day... That came true. Were those all real guesses, or did you have insider knowledge at the time?
I almost always had no insider knowledge, it's just a matter of guessing lots of things and having some dumb luck. The Last Guardian had to come back eventually.
Curious what ya think about the price for Metroid Prime’s remaster (40 USD digitally) and what you predict the Baten Kaitos remaster collection might go for comparatively.
I think the mid-price is nice for Metroid Prime considering the effort that went into revitalizing everything. I bet Baten Kaitos will be the full 60--two kinda rare GameCube games in one spot, and also not a huge audience.
Microsoft making a better Direct (format, production values) changed my expectations on how these games should be covered within this format.
Yeah I thought the MS Direct was dorky but after this week I really wondered what Retro's offices look like.
Was there anything non-Zelda related from that Nintendo Power that you thought was interesting?
The stuff they print about the launch of the Game Boy Color is really cool. They were really proud of its specs. What's weird is I expected more Pokémon stuff but they hadn't yet reacted to how big it is.
What’s with the pink by your right ear?
It wasn't an intentional tease but I guess I scratched my ear at some point before recording and now everyone knows. My whole head is pink now, a result of the bet I made on Twitch that Twitlight Princess and Wind Waker would definitely come out in 2022.
Will you give a chance and play Baten Kaitos when it releases?
I think there's a 40% chance I buy them and skip to the second one.
And that's it for today. As I mentioned earlier, I wouldn't mind doing a sillier episode next week, so hopefully no big gaming news drops to distract me from gettin' goofy. I just realized I never even talked about that Disney platforming game. I have some really funny jokes about Mickey and Minnie Mouse that I've been waiting to use, maybe it won't be too late to try em out next episode.
