Delayed Input 904 Post-Show Assessment

^Here's an example of doing way too many, barely different takes of one dumb joke, and ultimately I just ended up using the first attempt.

This was a weird episode. I thought this was going to be the one, the elusive 5-minute episode. Here's the thing though--if you know I did the 5-minute episode on the week I was leaving for a trip, you could rightfully feel shortchanged. For the 5-minute episode to be pure, it needs to appear on a week when I've got plenty of time.

A little over a year ago I did an episode where it's like "Let's just look through the headlines and cover a bunch of mini stories this week." We haven't gone back to that format since, and this was almost that, until I realized how many sad PR statements I was reading. It made for a nice common thread, and the posts themselves became kinda interesting the more I actually paid attention to them. It actually became a long script pretty quickly.

The part about how the bonus bit was cut content from an ep I was feeling was maybe a little overly long/boring, that's normally the kind of thing I save for us privately here on Patreon. But I think it was a way for me to apologize without really apologizing. I wanted to talk about the funny IGN/ESA back-and-forth, and I think the justification kind of worked. Maybe bonus bits can sometimes be (slightly dry) actual bonus material.

QUESTIONS FROM YOU!

Would you be up for getting a kind of dragonball or naruto style hair do?
I don't think I have that kind of volume.

I just won a small claims case against a guy who stole my motorcycle. Do you have any good courtroom stories to share?
The one time I got interviewed for jury duty I was dismissed because I sounded very dumb explaining my understanding of civil cases. They were just like "...you can go."

If you were to sunset Delayed Input (god forbid) how many paragraphs long would your letter to the community be? Would it end with a "thanks for watching"?
My dream is always to announce things on my terms and far in advance. But let's say for your question that it has to be sudden, like I'm getting sued into oblivion or something, my post will be mercilessly long and have 2 or 3 Thank You paragraphs.

I would just appreciate you linking the beanies in the video description in case I want to buy them.
My mom really made this hat.
Most of the hats this season will be ones I'm borrowing or just already have. The yellow one from last week is on Amazon though: https://www.amazon.com/C-C-Trendy-Chunky-Stretch-Beanie/dp/B00L1C0VPK/ref=sr_1_9?crid=128VGBUH1ZQDE&keywords=knit+hat&qid=1675663293&sprefix=knit+hat%2Caps%2C87&sr=8-9

How did it feel when you figured out what the last line should be?
I'm pretty sure I used the take where I first thought of it; you can see a true self-satisfied grin creep onto my face. I did another take thinking "I can do that better" but I simply couldn't.

What was the best thing you ate or drank this weekend?
There was a calzone-only restaurant called Sauce on the Side, that was super good. Best drink--Mountain Dew Pitch Black.

And that's it for today! Thanks for your patience on this post coming up so late. The big question on the mind of many video game video producers this week is whether there's a Nintendo Direct happening or not. There are scraps and crumbs of rumors and leaks but it's the kind of thing that can never be reliably predicted. I'd love to have a big sweet Direct to tear into this week, otherwise this one good joke I've been writing about Luigi's ghost dog might not make sense.
