Delayed Input 1004 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. As I brought up in that outtake, I don't really like talking about movies too much, but also I figured my hand was forced, it was time to talk about the Mario Movie. I also skipped right over ever talking about The Last of Us TV series last season, I thought maybe I'd pull that into a discussion on video game adaptations in general. 

But I realized that's a topic that's already happened all over, everywhere. I don't really have anything special to add to that particular nerd media conversation. Then, I was pretty lucky stumbling upon that GQ article in my broad googling phase--firstly it gave me something easy to make fun of, but I also think there was an interesting question there (even if the article didn't care to answer it). 

One of my favorite parts of editing this one was finding the right "GQ music" to play over the quotes from the article and the final Yes/No bit. If I'm proud of one thing it's finding the perfect GQ tone. 

QUESTIONS FROM YOU!

Genuinely curious how you come across a lot of your source material for a Delayed Input when it's not more standard videogame news sources like GQ.  Do you go searching the internet until you find absurd takes ripe for content or do these articles somehow get recommended to you?
I think I just searched for "mario movie box office" and fortunately for me I'm guessing GQ paid a little extra to get to the top of those results.

Do you think your mom or sister would make a guest appearance if you asked them to?
To be clear, my dad was the one who asked me to guest last week, but yeah I think if we had the right role they'd be into it. My mom actually was already in that episode where I'm making fun of Olympics coverage.

The hat hasn't arrived yet and I'm already wondering how to make an unexpected, rewarding payoff out of its eventual reveal.

I could not remember a single innuendo in the Super Mario movie
Same, but I didn't want to bring it up because I didn't want to see the corrections.
But since you're helping out GQ anyway, maybe suggest a funny innuendo that *could* have been in the film.
Hell no, that movie is pure. There's like 25 years of dumb eating mushrooms and getting bigger jokes, and they realized they didn't need any of those to make audiences laugh.

Have the Creepy Guild made a statement on whether Grown-Ups should see Mario Bros Movie in the theater?
I checked their website and unfortunately all they're recommending right now is The Pope's Exorcist.

I still just use a non-electric razor. Electric razors always, always let me down.

And that's it for today. I'm ready and hoping for a fun video game scoop this week. If not, we'll have to lean on the release of Picross S9. It's a huge release so I know we'll get views, but it's just not a humorous game and there's no way I'd get a funny joke into Delayed Input that week.
