Delayed Input 1002 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. As you could maybe tell, I was pretty sick this week and it honestly affected the output a bit. I guess you could say it's a bit of a humorless video, maybe "humor light," where I'm indeed struggling to get a simple This Is right. 

I was planning for a long time to make this a wonkier episode where I'm texting my future self questions about these rumored PlayStations, only to receive boring, dry responses because these are really kind of boring, dry rumors. (It was also basically just reusing the premise of a sketch I wrote ten years ago. At a certain point my past self starts sending me text messages too. It escalates to where I deeply hate both future and past states of myself without accepting we're all the same person. You get the idea.) I found though that I was developing a weird little take on each console, and these entertained me more than keeping this running bit going. But also yeah, I'm not positive I had the physical energy to pull the jokey jokiness off.

It's always a tough call for me--at what level of sickness do you have to be before calling something off? And here clearly I was able to function at a base level and produce a regular weird episode, so the lesson I learned in the future is "Yeah just go for it." Which is probably a bad lesson. Anyway I'm making a steady recovery and hope to be back in full jokey jokiness health next week.

What's an appropriately ironic punishment for people who shoot video in portrait mode?
I think we all have to adapt to the fact that most humans hold their phones vertically, and yes even though our eyeballs give us landscape vision, sometimes portrait mode makes sense.

Can you give us an example of what you would consider being your "stupid time"?
One show I like to watch every week is Battle Bots, where professionals have remote controlled machines with weapons bonk up against each other until one stops. 

I think the inevitable question here is, "What does Kyle do in his stupid time?"
We got the same question back-to-back but I can come up with another answer. I think I spend a lot of time not reading news stories but reading comments and responses to news stories. So like 89% of ResetEra or Reddit threads are stupid time.

Did you ever enjoy the Wii U gamepad Kyle? Was there an instance where you thought...I'm digging this?
As MaxVSTheGames already responded, I think Mario Maker was the best ever implementation--I loved designing on the game pad and then looking up to test the level on the TV.

Well, someone's got to ask.... why are we getting two weeks with the same shirt? Is this the yellow neon shirt arc?
It will make more sense next week.

You've referenced cable TV a couple of times on the show. Do you still pay for cable/watch network TV?
Yeah I'm in on a Hulu cable package that lets me watch sitcoms, sports, and Battle Bots.

No.

Can we make fun of the chain or does it have sentimental value?
I don't understand what there is to make fun of, it's just a nice necklace.
