Delayed Input 804 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. I don't have any good outtakes this week, so here's a shot of the creepy voucher. As you could probably guess I just rubbed some coffee grinds on it to make it gross. It's the kind of thing where I know it'll be on screen for a second but I also know someone will pause and care about it, might as well put a little effort into it.
So probably the actual weirdest thing about this episode is that it has 54k views right now, meaning it'll most likely end up becoming the most-viewed Delayed Input. Same as I say when there's a relative dud, I'm not here to create a popular YouTube series, but it is nice to see a bump like that. I think the title itself--"I have to delete Marvel Snap"--is doing a lot of work. The thumbnail is cheating a little bit, with the image being a little larger than it normally is. I think it's also strangely relatable to a bunch of weirdos who feel the same things. And also there's a lot of dumb luck involved.
Reading through the comments though, it was cool to see a lot of new people (and old people who don't normally get Delayed Input notifications) say that this video is on-point/funny. While the title and thumbnail are a little broad, I'd say the ep itself is thoroughly weird.
Another funny bit about producing this one--the whole monologue at the end was meant to have a lot of extreme closeups of my face appearing conflicted. My camera makes shots like those look really nice, but in the edit I realized I had a nasty, fuzzy eyelid rash. It's noticeable in the wide shot, but in the these closeups it was downright disturbing. Time for some classic Delayed Input problem solving. In the end, the sequence probably worked better being completely covered by the mouse moving around the game itself. Another funny thing--a couple of comments said the finale was anime, and while I didn't think it comes off like anime at all, I have been reading a lot of Hunter x Hunter and it's definitely the reason I wrote an intense inner-monolgue. Delayed Input is anime in spirit.
QUESTIONS FROM YOU!
The added emphasis of “Get fucked bozo” using a speech bubble was *beautiful*
Honestly that was probably an effect from reading too much manga too.
Have you tried getting right up on yourself in the mirror and saying "Hey, Bad Kyle. Get Fucked Bozo"?
I don't poke Bad Kyle
Do you have an archive of all the videos you've done?
I have Delayed Input neatly archived, Bosman at Home-era videos less so, and if we're talking like Final Bosmans, practically nothing. Maybe I'll regret it someday.
You created a fake account to delete, didn't you?
No, that was all real. The funny part was that I didn't know what would happen after I pressed that button until I was capturing broll after the shoot. There's actually a 30-day grace period to log back in and recover your account. Three days strong now.
Do you feel the snap mechanic devalues the Infinity Saga?
I kind of like that Thanos, a character who was kind of a goof in my childhood, has an iconic thing now. I'm cool with leaning into the snap.
Did you actually study acting while working with The Groundlings, or was it mostly just improv and writing?
So I did Upright Citizens Brigade, which is a lot like The Groundlings but also extremely different in lots of tiny ways. Anyway a lot of early UCB improv was learning to respond to thinks truthfully, that there's more humor in reacting honestly than absurd goofiness/detached jokes. So I think that inspires a lot of what I still do.
In college I did take an acting class that I took super seriously. That stuff was super fun.
Oh you know what, I just remembered an advanced improv class I took at UCB. One day our teacher paired us up and said "Okay, do a scene where you're breaking up with this person, and do not make it funny. Play it completely serious." It was extremely uncomfortable for everyone to watch but I successfully broke up with my partner and the teacher was like "Dang, that was pretty good." I'd say sometimes I'm a good actor but usually not really.
You called God of War a “Disney ride” and I don’t know why but I cannot get that out of my head while playing the game. Hard to be immersed now. I guess my question is, why do that to me?
I realize it sounded condescending but that comment comes from someone who loves Disneyland rides. I'm super immersed. I strap into a funny rolling chair and think "okay I'm about to travel through an actual haunted mansion right now."
Did you nearly break during your shimmy dance or was I just imagining things?
I don't think so. I actually remember thinking, "This dance isn't funny enough."
That's it for today. Crazy we're halfway through the skeleton tee arc already. I feel like we have so much left to accomplish. I've been planting seeds for weeks, now I think it's time for an absurdly goofy, detached joke that really makes people laugh.
