Delayed Input 901 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. I guess what's makes this weird is how it's not too far separated from the season in which I stated I didn't feel like doing lists anymore. And the crazy thing about this one is that most of this list is actually the 2023 trailers I'd most like to see.

It started out like another video where I'm struggling to get a main theme I'm happy with. It was kind of a "2023 predictions" or "2023 wishes" thing, but then I figured the most fun stuff was the "sequels having to immediately justify their existence" bits, and talking about how their next trailers have to show so much more. So I'll make it a top 5 most anticipated trailers, easy. (Also it would be a sneaky way to slip in a bit of the Ubisoft news that I didn't think could carry a whole ep)

The silly thing was, I kept coming up with more trailers I actually wanted to see. So it was Top 6, then Top 8 because 7 is too weird, and Top 9 is simply too cute, so it somehow became Top 10. I mean I really can't wait to see what Ed Boon's cookin' up.

Also coming up with a satisfying goof for #1 was a real struggle. We all know #1 is going to be a goof, but what kind of goof? What is surprising, yet still slightly logical? Luckily I keep stuff like my admiration for Tootsee Roll in my back pocket for rainy days like these.

Also, looking up at this video above me, I think it might be time to seriously consider adding some real color correction to the process. If anyone's got any tips on that I'd be happy to hear them.

Do you like the Castlevania games, if so which is your favourite?
My first Castlevania game was actually Castlevania Adventure on the Game Boy, which was a pretty brutal introduction. My favorite is Symphony on the Night, which I actually played for the first time a few years ago.

On a side note, are there other songs you'd wish to hear in upcoming trailers?
Honestly I have a running list in my mind of songs I want to use in trailers someday, but those are secret. Generally I just think sad songs are underutilized in the world of video game trailers.

If Pikmin 4 really does take place in Luigi’s Mansion, will we have to fight Luigi for the souls of our Pikmin?
It's heavily implied that Pikmin takes place in the deep future of planet Earth. While I realize we're already crossing worlds here, I do imagine if Luigi's Mansion is to be in the Pikmin universe, it's still deep future, meaning Luigi is long dead. So yes, we'll be battling the ghost of Luigi for souls of our Pikmin.

How was your break?
Pretty good. I have a dumb habit where I make plans to both to relax and be productive on new projects and usually don't fully succeed at either. It was nice the break coincided with room for holidays though.

Do you ever feel pigeonholed into only making videos about video games?
Part of the idea of doing In-Betweeners was so I'd be able to make non-video game videos without any pressure, and I think only the Thanksgiving cartoon turned out to be non-gaming. So really the only one pigeonholing me is me.

One thing I believe you could tackle in your usual format is how YouTube is not really friendly to people not following the popular trends.
Personally I get kind of uncomfortable when a YouTuber is complaining about YouTube business meta. It'd have to be about games first right, like how YouTube's algorithm probably has a real impact on which games become popular.

And that's it for today! My plans for next week are mostly focused on making the backdrop a little more drab. Right now it sits in a realm where you can't tell if it looks bad on purpose or not. Also yes, this season's theme is winter hats because soon my hair is about to be pink because of a bet I didn't think I'd lose, and I'm strangely self-conscious about looking like I thought dying my hair is a good idea. And also if you're distracted by my hair it might blow my chance to get one good joke into Delayed Input.
