Delayed Input 705 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode.

Firstly, ^^ there's an outtake. Patreon is testing out video uploads now so I figured I'd give it a shot. I thought this take was pretty funny, Mucho doesn't act with me often, but the camera's autofocus freakin out made it clearly unusable.

This ep was also the first time in a long time I had to reshoot some scenes. It's pretty evident in the video itself; I have bright red ears you can tell were previously covered by headphones. I needed to reshoot the above scene, and then also I forgot to mention the lack of natural credits in multiplayer modes. The post-credits bit didn't require those two bits, but it just felt incomplete without them. Reshoots are always annoying but I guess one nice benefit of working alone is that I can grumble for a second and then just set up again and get to it.

This episode could be broken down into: Let's talk about Sakurai's YouTube channel, Let's talk about Grafaiai's trailer, and Let's talk about credits. Basically 3 topics that could have been their own individual videos but felt to me like half-ideas. We all know I can do 10 minutes on a half idea, (in the case of the credits thing, that really could have been two-hour exploration of all the good examples throughout history, but I was so sure 20 YouTubers already did that) but I kinda like this opportunity to cover a healthy handful of things I'm feeling on a given week.

Also a confession here--some of that stuff about movie credits was unused standup material I remembered from ten years ago.

QUESTIONS FROM YOU!

You have those credits thoughts locked and loaded or all scripted while preparing this video?
The reason I had to do reshoots is that I was a little too locked and loaded, like "alright I'm just gonna let it rip," and skipped over that important part. But truthfully for the most part it played out as scripted.

Would Pokémon work better with mild survival horror elements?
There's a Mimikyu side quest in Sun and Moon that's pretty scary; you have to go in first person and look around for a ghost in an abandoned grocery store. That part rules.

Is the wall scuff a nice Final Bosman Easter egg?
It's real, I think I'm just prone to wall scuffs. I'd like to cover it up with something someday.

We know you take media blackout seriously, so what made you look at this Pokémon trailer instead of skipping it like you usually do?
Really it just seemed different/exciting from first glance. But also I'm just not too serious about Pokemon blackouts these days. I will never  watch the launch trailer though.

Would you rather be bitten by a mosquito and it gets away, or be bitten twice by a mosquito and you get to kill it?
Just one bite please.

Any credits music come to mind as something that’s stood out to you?  I liked FFX’s for sure, and the Sayonara Wild Hearts credits as well.
Mario 64 is maybe the best ever, and my favorite is probably Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. Also I still love well-timed licensed music. I remember Tales from the Borderlands using a First Aid Kit song for their end credits and feeling actual jealousy, like I was going to be the one to use First Aid Kit for my end credits, how dare they.

And that's it for today. It seeeems like September is about to be a big month for saucy mega game news, but I think this next week might still be low-key in terms of headlines. I've thought about covering the rumors, but it also seems like the truth with reveal itself soon enough that it'd be a bit pointless. Just like Delayed Input's first funny joke, Silent Hill remains in a perpetual state of being one week away from its reveal.

Comments

Poor Mucho.

Mucho is an incredible actor, it's impressive how he can keep a straight face. Thank you for including the outtake!
