Delayed Input 506 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. It was originally much more focused on how weird the deal is that Remedy made with Rockstar, and also how weird it is that they told us all about it. Then I did a dumb thing and I read the reddit comments from dozens of people who are extremely excited for Max Payne to be back. They would even go into real truthful detail about how much they missed this particular game. So I started to feel bad about questioning Max Payne's importance, and then that's where "not for me" started, and poor Monkey Island got pulled in from there.

The "I've never heard of this before" bit seemed to have the greatest impact in the episode, or at least inspired the most comments this week. It's the kind of a dumb joke you think of in passing, but I guess it really is half of what the whole video is about. I thought of doing the Bit or Not a Bit thing just because as I was reading through the script I was like, "What if people really think I never heard of Max Payne?" So it was nice as a service to the audience but also an opportunity for more dumb jokes.

Production wise I thought it would be a quick edit since there weren't any moments of artistic flair in this one, but I ended up putting in an extra hour over the average. I'm not even sure why, I just think it was maybe a weird one to work out the flow.

QUESTIONS FROM YOU!

Could you maybe take some time to look at upcoming video game releases, for the next quarter we'll say, and tell us one that is Not For You and maybe one that is For You?
For Me: Nintendo Switch Sports
Not For Me: Mario Strikers: Battle League

What's it going to take to get you to play Kid A Mnesia?
I'm still waiting until I'm in the right mood, until then I'm grinding out my power level in Marvel's Avengers.

Are there any point-and-clicks that you remember fondly?
I think the one I played the longest was a King's Quest game, one with a well you could climb down and eventually a giant in the clouds. But I found them all frustrating, even the goofy ones. Like a cartoon that won't progress until I do all the silly little things it wants me to click on.

What are you doing with all these clothes at the end of each season?
Most will get donated but each season I tend to keep 1 or 2 that I actually like. I still have the sleeveless Space Jam hoodie for some dumb reason.

If only half of us are here for something we hate so we can fall asleep, what are the rest of them here for?
The analytics suggest the rest are looking for something pleasant to help them fall asleep. A few people fall asleep to these very posts.

What were you hooked on when you were like.. 14?
I think that's around the age where I just played Pokemon, my first RPG that I actually got through, and then finally decided to play through Final Fantasy IX, VII, and VIII.

Do you feel that you've now actually used up the joke of hoping to land one good joke in the next episode?
It's a recurring bit but also a real sentiment in that I think I can be doing better. Still chasing that "Damn, that's a good joke" joke

Will you update us if you do ever check Kid A Mnesia out?
If I don't like it, I'll probably keep it a secret.

And that's it for today. Kingdom Hearts IV was announced with a stunning trailer, I feel like that might still be the biggest news by next Thursday? I hope that's the case; I'm already scheming up Kingdom Hearts bits that might just spawn my first good joke.

Comments

Looking forward to that one good joke then! 😅

Smart move to wait for the right move with the Radiohead exhibit, I mean, it's an incredible museum, but it's still a museum.
