Delayed Input 502 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. As you could imagine learning there's a little video game event  is a dream when producing a weekly series. I have to be honest with you, I was expecting the grand re-reveal of Final Fantasy XVI despite my own advice to myself. It was pretty deep into writing this script when I realized how weird it is that I pretend these games are all a big deal just because they were part of a showcase, and I reflected on how through Final Bosman/the Easy Allies Podcast, I've been doing this for years. A little gaming news monster, consuming and disposing of games before they're even out. So then I rewrote the episode from that perspective. I was (still am) pretty scared that it was a little unnecessarily negative, but it's just how I was really feeling this week.

The super long Batman bit in the beginning is absolutely unrelated to the theme of the video, and for a while I was trying to make it work as a segue into this week's subject. When that wasn't working, I just made it the dumb, long cold open. And it's weird, the reason it stayed in is that Producer Kyle knew Performer Kyle would be worked-up about it and it would get some genuine emotion and energy in there.

I'm a little alarmed seeing the reactions to the bonus bit trailer for "next week's episode." This was an obvious joke for me, but then I see a lot of comments say "OMG so excited for next week's episode!" and I don't know if they're playing into the joke or expecting an actual payoff next week. I really don't want to let those people down.
The whole trailer was actually something I thought up really late into the process, which is why it sticks to that single adobe stock video for the entire bit. It might have been better with concept art of the characters or a CG map or something.

QUESTIONS FROM YOU!

Is delayed input designed to cover the latest developments in gaming or is it just "anything goes" and this is where you fall?
Delayed Input wasn't designed to cover recent events but it has somehow become that. So I was thinking about that "I woulda killed him" guy a lot, my fear of being him is basically why I don't tweet anything outside of business. Like doing these videos, sometimes I could imagine someone standing up in the audience and asking "Why are you talking about this??" and I don't have an answer. So what's nice about a recent event is that "Why are you talking about this" is inherently answered, you can move on quickly. But yeah I'd still like to do Just Because eps too.

But did you think to yourself, in that split second before the man next to you spoke, in that little space before the black hole of social conventions swallows it up, did you think to yourself, "I'd have killed him"?
Really no. I'm highly capable of watching a whole Batman movie without wondering the whole time what I would do if I was Batman.

I can edit all day and never get any crashes. What software do you use?
I use Adobe Premiere, though it's crashed before without that even being open. I think it just heats up through the stress of editing? It's crazy the new PC almost turned out less capable than my old one. It plays games though.

Would YOU have killed him??
Only Batman should answer questions about what Batman would do. I'm getting angry about this all over again.

Do you think the developers know that no one will talk about their games ever again? Or do you think they went into this state of play with their hearts set on a massive hype train?
Honestly I kind of lost this in the script but I think it was a great venue for this size of game announcement. I would be so stoked to be making a game on DioField's scale and getting into a State of Play. So no I think they know they're not huge games but I bet they're super excited to get this exposure. Honestly I'm thinking now it would have been nice to get this notion into the ep's conclusion.

If you were discussing a game with a girl as the main character, would you ever sing the rest of "this is-" or would that tip the scales too hard
We'll tip that scale when we get to it

Just wondering, what's the name of this style? How would you refer to this season's collection?
This is the Floral Polo season

Was Rias forgiven for givin?
I really think I should never follow up on this.

Is the darker area around your eyes there as an homage to The Batman? What bronzer are you using?
This is my 100% natural Long Day look.

And that's it for this week. Apologies this post is a little late, big family day today. Looking at next week, I think the thing the show needs worse than anything is for me to get a haircut. This one started with disastrous results and I never grew into it. Nothing makes you feel as confident as having a fresh haircut, I might even finally find the confidence to pull off my first good joke in Delayed Input.

Was Rias forgiven for givin? I really think I should never follow up on this. Thanks for responding. This made me laugh, and I very much agree. Looking forward to your next episode man

I can't wait for the next episode! (Seriously, these people were probably always pissed off at Arrested Development too.)
