Delayed Input 702 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. I think someone on the Discord a few weeks ago said something like "Kyle should do an episode about these cheap trophy games" and I thought, "ha ha, no." But I just kept seeing them. Something I think I failed to convey in the video is that the frequency of these No Eff Plats has increased dramatically over the last few months. I think it's sweet that anyone can get a game on the PlayStation store, but also I really started to hate seeing these.

The big difference between this ep and the one about Breakthrough Games or Bustafellows is that I wanted to record playing the games live. Instead of me telling you what they are, you'd see me figuring that out in realtime. I thought maybe that would be the more exciting way to handle these weird games, and also I figured each would be short enough to keep my recording time on schedule.

I actually had a weird OBS error--it didn't record the games' audio at all. I ended up going back and recording the music for each game and just laying that under. It turned out to be something I could have even decided to do on purpose, since it can be kinda jarring when doing a lot of quick cuts to hear music chopped up. And also half of those games had no sound effects anyway.

I like the Ratchet & Clank ones, PaRappa the Rapper, and Final Fantasy XV.

I work in games and man I am *dying* to know the telemetry on these trophy farm games. Like…who’s buying these?  Who’s playing these? Is anyone playing them like….more than once?  Did anyone buy one and stop before getting the platinum?
I know a lot of these a rhetorical questions but I did see the platinums were usually like 98.6% earned, so yeah a bunch of people buy these without actually doing the four minutes of work.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how concerned should we be that you're now hooked on Ump Jump games?

I have a question that I hope you’ll take as constructive feedback rather than backseat driving. How much thought do you put into video titles?

Firstly thanks, I love this kind of feedback, because secondly no, I don't put a lot of thought into video titles. I think my tendency leans toward Short & Cute, where the things you suggested, like Strong Declarative Statements, are more how YouTube works. So yeah I'd like to work on improving my titles.

Will you ever revisit the Summer Ice Saga? I need to know what happens to Pammy...
It looks like the new Pammy games don't involve bowling, and I lost all interest.

It has been cool seeing you bring the worlds of your streaming content and Delayed Input together lately!  Is this something you've always wanted to do, or are you just shakin the bag?
Honestly I've never heard the phrase shakin the bag before but yeah I think that's what I'm doing. I think my current direction with Delayed Input is to make it less of "A Show," if that makes sense. I've actually been curious about doing a completely unscripted Delayed Input to see how it goes, but haven't really stumbled into a good opportunity for that yet.

That's it for today. We know I've been struggling to come up with a funny joke for a while now but with tomorrow's big Better Call Saul finale, which I expect to be an absolute laugh riot, I hope to become inspired to develop my own great joke.
