Delayed Input 607 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. The weirdest part is that it starts with a minute-long story that's not particularly crazy or funny. I really just felt it would help illustrate the point, like all of that was worth it when we finally get to "Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase (No Sex Tonight)." It was a kinda fun way to play with the format, to make one week's Nintendo talk feel unique to all the other weeks of Nintendo talk.

Based off some YouTube comments, I kind of think there's a decent amount of people who would prefer if I just listed off each Direct announcement, followed by a "I liked it" or "I didn't like it." I'm thinking I should just try that out sometime, see how it feels.

Another thing I did with the bonus bit, the Delayed Input updates, is actually something I've usually been apprehensive about doing up to now. (There have been a couple of Previously On cold opens) Basically I worry that if I'm too caught up in updates and corrections for old bits and takes I'll just start to sink in my own mud. Weighing the show down too much with old stuff? But Sonic's island camera was simply too funny not to do an update on, and I thought the Star Ocean thing happening just one week later was too fun of a coincidence to ignore. I wonder now if I should do more check-ins like this. It's just finding the stuff that's rewarding for long-term viewers, and not alienating/boring to new viewers.

I haven't watched any SGDQ yet, do you have a #1 highlight so far?
I realize now I missed most of the runs I was excited about. Yakuza 7 was pretty cool.

What ironic take would Ubisoft have to come up with to justify Rabbid Kyle?

If you were being completely honest with yourself, would you say the Camera Controls over the Islands was truly Premium Fun?
The thing that makes the Premium Fun premium is simply the extra money it costs. It was very premium and I don't regret the purchase.

Did you hit any writers block on the Mario+Rabids+X bit, or was it just a glorious 45 seconds of brainstorming?
I honestly think I should have spent more time on it. Cats 2019 is such a dead horse. I guess I was thinking of crossovers that I think would actually make for good, crazy minglers with Mario and the Rabbids, without enough concern over whether they're funny jokes. So Snowboard Kids would just be a fun game. Tonight Show with Jay Leno is really fun to imagine as a crossover too, but maybe comes off like a cheap random punchline.

What is your favorite piece of crossover media, and in 3-1000 words, why?
When I was a kid I had a collection of the DC vs Marvel comics and I loved going through it. About 3/4s through the battle, the two sides stop fighting and the characters merge into each other, so Wolverine and Batman morphed into one guy. I remember drawing Spider-Boy and thinking I was making the coolest art of my life.

Have you explored the details of all the other Packs of Sonic fun that you had showed us on that chart?
I checked out the challenges and bonus character menu animations, but nothing was nearly as funny and disappointing as the camera controls.

And that's it for today! It's been a relatively eventful season of game news; it's kinda hard to imagine we'll luck into any juicy headlines again for the season 6 finale next week. I'll have to make my own luck and just write a good episode. And if I can't write anything good I was thinking about doing an episode with a funny joke in it.
