Delayed Input 606 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. I spent a long time trying to figure out what exactly I'd be talking about (at one point the script was 50/50 Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Hyenas) and then an especially long time with the edit. This video is 14 minutes long, but it started at 17 or 18. And I'm trying to keep these around 10 minutes; it was driving me crazy.

A lot of this struggle comes down to tone for me. My goal this week was to make a Fun video, where you as the viewer can tell the host was having fun and hey we're all just having a good time here. And it wasn't that fun to just watch me complain about this game's 24-minute direct and then this poor Hyenas game that could have just been easily ignored. So there's a lot of trimming for brevity but also just cutting down on the Nasty Kyle. I didn't want to start making video game videos again just to be Nasty Kyle all the time. 

My absolute favorite part of the video is the cold open. There's something inexplicably hilarious about a person not being able to say Happy Birthday, Sonic the Hedgehog with enthusiastic sincerity. I wonder if I could harness that more frequently.

Also interesting to note: this video got almost twice as many comments as a regular ep. Some viewers on YouTube were accusing me of trolling for engagement, I obviously wasn't, but something about these takes really brought the comments this week. I'd frankly prefer fewer comments, there were too many to read. I definitely clicked Like on a bunch of thoughtful "I disagree with Kyle" comments this time though. Maybe I really am feeding into the engagement.

Following the patterns, there is now a 65% chance I'm going to end up playing XC3

Did you write the 2 spider-based traits with connecting them in mind, or did 1 spring out of the other?
It's hard for me to remember how I filled those out (I spent the longest time trying to come up with something for the burly brawler) but I'm guessing you're right, I probably thought of someone turning into a spider before I thought of someone eating spiders.

Do you think anyone would notice if you sneaked into the old GT office to shoot an episode?
Viacom has tough security. I've heard rumors that they painted over the iconic walls of the old GameTrailers floor, so it could really just be sad to revisit.
If we're talking about the Defy offices, I just imagine it's a dirty, abandoned floor that would be super easy to sneak into, but also probably has some raccoons scurrying around.

Rumor has it we'll have another Nintendo Direct this week, and maybe a reappearance of God of War: Ragnarok, so it seems like I'm continuing to receive topics for free this summer. Next week I'd like to put Nasty Kyle to bed and introduce the world to a brand-new part of myself: Funny Kyle.
