Delayed Input 405 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. When the Twisted Metal stuff first popped up again I searched through all my scripts (which is pretty easy since I write them all in google docs) because I wasn't sure if I had already done a Twisted Metal take before. Yes I did, just last season. We've officially racked up enough Delayed Inputs to where I'm forgetting which bits I've already done.

So I had the feeling that I wanted to say more about Twisted Metal but I didn't just want to do a critique of a dormant franchise I'm not even super familiar with, and then that turned into Free Ideas. Writing this went pretty smoothly, I like doing this kind of thing. For a long time I had a long bit about keeping the Twisted Metal game separate from the Twisted Metal TV show. This whole portion dragged and wasn't funny, and then suddenly I deleted it and replaced it with "headshots," which became one of my favorite bits. So the idea of pitching wild but maybe kind of fun ideas solidified into a fun video. The last bit kind of bucks the theme, clearly just some pent-up feelings on challenge swaps I had to get off my chest.

One fun part of producing the episode that took way too long was getting that single clip of Calypso being a weird jerk to the old man who wanted a young body. Writing the script I was coming up with my own monkey's paw scenario, but then I thought "I should just watch some of those endings." Then I saw that tiny old head ending, and it was weird and funny enough to me that I had to get it into the video. The problem is I can't just rip someone else's YouTube upload like that. So I had to add money to my PS3 wallet, which you can only do in a web browser now, download Twisted Metal 2, and put in some cheat codes to skip to the final boss. The wild thing about this final boss is that he (Dark Tooth by the way, Sweet Tooth's dad) spends the entire fight jumping up and down, destroying my entire "groundbound" narrative. Unusable footage. I recorded myself describing the final cutscene in case I couldn't get it, but I was happy to get into the episode.

Spare behind-the-scenes bits:
- The bog witch's background is from Adobe Images. It cost $80 but I think looks pretty nice. I probably should have done more of that for the Chegduff Thanksgiving Special.
- The tub of fuel is a toothpaste cap colored orange and filled with water. It was actually really hard to balance and spilled over the first time, causing a small outburst of swear words.
- I spent a super long time looking for an image of the final roster of Street Fighter V and couldn't find one. I'm not sure one exists. The one I used is from Capcom but is missing five characters and is a little low-res.

QUESTIONS FROM YOU!

Differences between a Bog Witch vs. a Blood Hag?
I believe blood hags are generally less skilled with magic, and usually more driven by a sense of rage than the reclusive, self-centered bog witch.

Why would I try to collect Sweet Tooth Giggle Stops if I can just mute my sound?
I actually didn't think about this. And since Sweet Tooth wears a mask you couldn't even see him giggling. So I think we'll have to get his giggles phonetically spelled out in a huge font.

Is the modern games industry too desensitized to crazy announcements to be rocked by a twisted metal Doc Brown Spider Monster?
I think it would be really hard for TM to shock people with a celebrity/multiverse cameo, and a crazy plot turn wouldn't have a big impact since most of us have lost track of the story, but if the reveal trailer ends with Sweet Tooth removing his mask, and he's like unnaturally, insanely handsome, it would get a lot of tweets.

Did you have to go out to purchase the little cars or are those part of your collection?
Before my parents sold the house I grew up in, my mom showed me my boxes and boxes of old toys and said "take what you want and the rest is going to the garage sale." Those five cars made the cut, I just like something about each of them.

If this joke was your new year's resolution, what is your next objective for the year?
Unfortunately I didn't get through the clown joke without laughing, so I'm not sure we can count it as being fully delivered. The quest continues.

That's it for today. It's a little crazy to me we're about to be six episodes into the season without a big new game announcement or leak. You want to have those news drops where people are thinking "ooh boy I can't wait to see what old Bossy's got to say about this one!" I'm hoping for one of those this week. If not, I can always work on my resolution to pull off one good joke.

With today's big news story, I expect Kyle to go in a COMPLETELY different direction on the next episode
