Delayed Input 205 Post-Show Assessment

This was a weird episode. There's a comment on YouTube essentially calling it two episodes in one, and it basically is. I think it's possible the Halo half of the script's development was stunted as I typed out my Twitch thoughts, and maybe we got two undercooked concepts.
And really here I don't want to use these posts to trash on my own videos every week, nobody wants to read that, but I think I made a fun video that maybe doesn't make sense. We lose the t-shirt/brand power thread entirely and move into this icon-counting segment--which was from early drafts, it's there because it's fun--but then transition from that straight into the franchise score. It's like I was about to make a larger point but got distracted by my own silly game, and then I didn't notice the hole til I was editing.
And then with the Street Fighter/Twitch thing, I didn't realize how much I had to say til I was writing through thoughts. I think "commercial manipulation of reactions" is an interesting topic and maybe it will get more time later, but it squeaked in here in a bonus bit. The blonde babes thing is almost an unrelated, separate thought, but I thought it would make a visually interesting element so it stayed in an already chunky episode.
My takeaways this week:
- I spent a long time with the script sticking to the format of the first franchise score episode, and that was obviously unnecessary. No rules on Delayed Input baby.
- I've got to accept that the easiest/least stressful stuff actually takes up the most amount of time. I probably spent more time just assembling the Icons graphics and blonde babes slides than I did cutting the episode down for content.
- I hid a Shrek, but the people looking for Hidden Shrek didn't find him. It's only fun/rewarding if he's findable. (He's hanging out with Ratchet the second time we see him)

Questions from You!
Have you considered adding text to your video thumbnails for Delayed Input similar to the text you have on the other videos on your channel (Bosman at Home, Conference Takeaways, even going back to Final Bosman)?

I honestly just do the thumbnails exactly like John Oliver does. I was inspired to find that you can still find YouTube success without big words and a corresponding reaction. I do generally try to make sure the box over my shoulder communicates what the episode is about. I give my thumbnails a 5.5, but it's not one of the foremost things I want to improve on. I still need to figure out writing funny scripts.

How hard are you thinking about the final score? and where does the final number come in the process of writing?
I think about it harder than I probably give the impression. It's a pointless number based on zero math, but if it doesn't make sense to the viewer, I also don't think it has any entertainment value. I definitely don't finalize it until I'm at that specific part of the script, and you know, sometimes I'll even change it live, spurred by emotion while recording.

Have you thought about what the next "outfit phase" is going to be? If you don't already own the amount of, say, tie dye jumpers you need - are you buying them new or second hand? And are you keeping them or donating them soon after?
I have some rough ideas but honestly I'm just trying to keep pace with the tie dye phase. I have unfortunately found that the thrift stores in Raleigh are not on the level I had in even in Pasadena. Definitely donating the used clothes though. I gotta help these vanilla thrift stores out.

This was a rough week. I'm going to try to hit my deadline hard next week, so you might see me lean back on one of those episodes that just writes itself, or something. A huge change I'm looking to make is I've been considering writing one good joke.

Why do we keep letting Capcom get away with making these sexy characters?

i’m more perturbed with the fact that last character is another boring boxer archetype and if they give him like a logan/jake paul you tuber celeb personality i’m going to throw up. anyways blonde fighter 5 has been a running meme in the fgc community for some time now, but personally i’m bothered not because of “muh representation” or the need to shoehorn in certain minorities but because street fighter used to be about fighters from different countries with unique fighting styles based somewhat on real martial arts (like the movie bloodsport) and it’s lately been more focused on superhero archetypes with superpowers and we’ve seen this with newer characters like ed, falke, g, and now this guy. i hope they at least give him some grappler type mechanics so he’s closer to mixed martial arts rather than a pure boxer but at least from what they showed he just looks like another ed type character.
