Alpha v6.0 Progress Update 2

I'd say that the optimization update is 90% complete. We were so so close, and I would have released the test build today.

Unfortunately, we came across major audio popping. Why it happened now, I cannot explain. The audio engineer could not have imagined the amount of debugging and googling I spent getting to the root of the issue. As it turns out, it's an internal Unity audio system bug. And the only long-term solution is to upgrade the Unity version...

Well luckily that wasn't much an issue! The issue is mostly gone; I only have to do a pass to finalize the fixes. But this does mean the following update will not have as much new content as I originally planned. I'll do my best to finish the test build next week. The public update may be released a little later than I originally planned, but I'll do what I can to release it as soon as possible.

Oh, and the audio engineer is helping us with some new footstep sounds. Hopefully we'll have the first set complete for the test build. Perhaps all the sets will be finished for the public update...

Finally, the twins. Their final proportions will be the picture above, though like 3 inches shorter. This includes her breast size (the artist was super adamant about it). Also as a bonus, I have decided to add high heels to the twin's shoe list as well. Considering the shoes/socks selected in the polls, it felt wrong to not include proper high heels. It's going to be a pain to implement all these shoe/sock options, but I'm sure people will enjoy it! We have a rough design for the high heels that hopefully matches the character's theming. We'll appreciate any feedback.

Awesome! This is definitely one of the most promising GTS games I've seen this year!

Looks great! Excited for the sound additions as the sound design alongside the destructive effects is definitely some of the best I've seen in 3D giantess games. The model design is looking great and I'm looking forward to seeing her finished ingame look! The design definitely has me hope for some extra mechanical differences or something to further invoke her magical theme. Especially as more giantesses are added, seeing new unique mechanical challenges and animations per giantess to accentuate their unique personalities/visuals would go a long way as the game goes along imo but that is definitely a lot of extra work. Especially as enemies/trap quantities get to the point you can "randomize" which ones show up per level, having the giantess as the "boss" have different mechanics would be super cool for this roguelike game. Apologies if any of this is already mentioned as in development. Still pouring over the notes/posts to catchup on the development progress. Loving it all so far!

I have a few Akipo-specific behaviors planned, though probably not this update. I want to add map/game mechanics for the player, and that would naturally require the gts to have new behaviours as a result.

Thank you for keeping us updated! Regardless of progress or delays, giving your supporters an idea of whats going on behind the scenes is always appreciated :) On an unrelated note this game is awesome, especially when the giant unintentionally corners the player just because their sheer size blocks the path forward. I was wondering if there are any more behaviors planned to stop the player's progress on the on the side of the base gts? (I am generally aware of the plans for the twins)

I cannot even say if I agree or not. 99% of the time, Unity works as expected. 1% of the time it's a broken mess. I can't even play audio in the Unity Editor anymore without getting actually ear-blasted.

I'm currently focused on the gts' base design. After the twins are added, I will poll to see if people perhaps want alternate outfits (such as shorter skirts or gym leggings). I'll pass your cultured message to the artist.

looks great! And yea I get it... Unity can be a very buggy mess. I've tried hacking/modding a few games in Unity and frankly this whole engine is held together with sticky tape xD

If the leg/feet models have to be altered to work for high heels, may as well use it to its fullest. I'll most likely post 3d model updates as I get them.

Everything is looking good so far. We're more than fine with an update to come out that has less content than planned if it means things are more polished in the end. You can't predict what sort of problems will crop up at the last minute, after all. The longer limbs look better on the twins and gives them a more mature look. It goes well with the two big additions to these reference sheets that the artist was arguing for, compared to the designs you showed us last time. I also concur with Catty that I'm curious about what footwear won the polls, considering it was somewhat open-ended and a lot of the results for the shoes were pretty close. Did all of the options that reach the teens get selected?

Looks great. Upon further inspection and comparison with this design i will admit i think serm was correct. the other design was a bit, for lack of better terms, Bobbleheady? this better showcases the desired proportions and shape for the model. I think it would have been sorted out by the final design but it is better to be more clear with the modeler so it goes smoother. I like the heels, especially var B. Idk if your gonna add both or if your gonna hold a poll? Also, can you tell us the winners of the footwear polls? you had a range of how many you were gonna pick so im curious what was decided. I hope you keep us up to date on the twins models as they are being worked on, if you are able to that is. things can look very different from 2d to 3d so im curious how they will progress. one more thing, if possible could you compare the twins concept arts and eventually the models to Akipo? Just so we can have a decent comparison to the size and looks of a girl that is tangible in game already. even a very rough side by side with approximate heights would be much appreciated. Thank you for the update!

The most inexplicable bugs will always pop up in game dev. Squashing them is a vital but unsung part of the process. After all, people won't notice the bugs that *don't* show up in the build. But as someone with experience in QA testing, I appreciate the work you put into it :D
