Final Patreon Donation

Hey everyone!

This Patreon was created in February of 2021, so this March was the twelfth month of donations. For the first year of this Patreon's life, I took all of the money made by the Patreon, matched it with my own money, and then donated that sum to the National Center for Transgender Equality. Today, I made my last donation--$1200, for a total of about $3500 raised in the last year. This is going to be the last donation I made.

When I originally set up this Patreon, my wife and I were both working full time, and I didn't need the money--I was actually more interested in having a kind of "blogging platform" to share updates and such than I was in the donations. I also did very little with my Nexus Donation Points and often donated them to buy lifetime premiums (I've bought 12+) or gave 100% of them to my co-authors.

After two years of teaching in a crumbling school district during a global pandemic, and more than one mental breakdown, I've quit my job, and I'm probably not going to work full time for a bit. My wife asked me to use this transition as a time to adjust how I treat income from modding, and it seems like a reasonable ask to me. Going forward, I'll take what modest funds I get from modding, whether its Nexus DP or Patreon donations, and put them towards a car payment or something similarly useful to us. (Actually, I was thinking about taking some classes in the fall, so I might try to save the Patreon bucks for that.)

I want to thank everyone for their support over the last year. I never expected I could raise a few thousand dollars for an important cause by making spells for a 10 year old video game, but here we are. To celebrate, I wanted to share this letter I got recently after my last donation--it even comes w/ a nice little hand-written thank you at the bottom!

If you're one of the fine Patrons who is here to support a good cause, and you don't want to continue donating, then don't forget to cancel your membership before the end of the next month. I will try to post one last reminder before the end of the month.

Well, that's all for now, folks. Work on Mysticism is going well. I've put in a huge chunk of hours this week, and I think we're still on track for a release this Friday. Until then, cheers, and don't forget to bully TERFs on the internet whenever you see them!

Thank you for the generous donations over the years, it's really really heartening to see someone care so much about an issue close to my heart. I dedicate my next argument with a TERF to you!
