Because Messiah of Evil is the most recent video on the YouTube channel. I know it seems odd at a glance, but it's the video that's relevant to what I was saying.

Why'd you put this here and not on a more recent, more visible post? I just saw it because I happened to randomly scroll down

Slightly off-topic, but I feel like you could use some words of encouragement right now.
The way the backlash to the you-know-what is continuing to spiral is breaching *insanity*, in my opinion. I don't think I've seen more misinformation or false reinterpretations of a controversy before, like, ever, and I have been thinking for a good half-year: "...Did I watch a completely different video by mistake?" When people bring up the bad stuff, I've noticed they almost never mention AI, or the criticism of Jason Blum, and usually focus on Wendigoon, or something else. I believe this is for a simple reason. Wendigoon is near the start of the 3~ hour video, but the other stuff is in the second half and near the end. Many trolls *have not* watched the whole thing, and are probably quicker to get their info from a second-hand source, which as I have observed, are not trustworthy or accurate. So when these third-hand troll comments are left, it is both important, but also dangerous, to respond to them, because lies are bad, but attention is what the trolls want. That's another lose-lose situation, and I sympathize, truly I do.
As an aside, it is a shared sentiment among video essayists that their viewers harassing anyone they mentioned at all is wrong, period. With that in mind, I think it should be unanimous that the comment section trolls you are getting are also in the wrong. Their comments are not only off-topic, but intentionally inflammatory, and that smells like harassment to me. The one I saw on this video's YT upload made me feel like this needed to be said.
When you get into controversy, you will piss off good people, and you will piss off people who are even more insane than you are. The latter are the dangerous ones, using "being in the right" as ammo for harassment and lies. And that's terrible.
I want to tell you that it's not all bad, and it can be easy to forget that there are people rooting for you, and even those who still think you were wrong, but are willing to give you your second chance. Next time you see one of those troll comments, try to ignore it. Try your best. Delete it if you must. You don't have to fight all your own battles all the time, because you have fans who will go up to bat in your stead and fight for you. Keep your chin up, mate.

I've seen this movie once and can only remember the scenes with the black albino.

I’d like to recommend Santa Sangre. It’s a Jodorowski film. It’s horror. It’s little known. It’s critically regarded, but probably not any better known than a lot of the films you cover. Just a suggestion.

Thanks! I miss editing fiction work and one day would like to have some more experiences with it. I've never gotten to edit a full length feature which is something I'd really like to try my hand at. The remix idea really is fun and is something that I wish was more common also. In film school my focus was to be a writer and an editor, and in editing classes my favorite projects were the ones where everyone was given the same footage to work with and each person had to come up with their own cuts. It really shows how many different ways there are to approaching cutting a scene when you start with the same materials. As an editor people honestly did not like to work with me because I was a little set in my ways, but I felt like it yielded good results and even if there were frictions in the process most people ended up happy with what we had done. Basically my work process was that I would read the script twice so I knew what they were trying to communicate with their story, but I wouldn't edit with script in the room with me so that it didn't dictate the cuts that I made or the flow of the edit. I also required to work alone and to have a fully finished first cut that was entirely my own before taking any notes from the people in the production. This required a lot of trust on their end, which often was a hard thing for them, but I think giving an editor a lot of freedom with the tone and feel of the movie always makes the best product because if they are really good they will only elevate what was shot.

immaculate vibes from the video and the film both. it's too bad film "remixes" don't exist the same way that they do for music; with such a limited set of filmed material, it would be interesting to see what different editors would do and what story they might cook up.
related to that, i enjoyed the tangent about the short film you worked on as an editor! i'd be curious to hear any more stories you have of that time.

I will probably get back to it at some point. That was in 2020, and I've since had more experience in to write about those kinds of movies. At the time I really struggled with how to approach reviewing movies that were not great haha I still love the first one, and actually somewhat know the guy who made two. He lives in the same town as me funny enough and I'll occasionally see him out and about and I'll always say hey when I see him.

Yes more!!! Also just got around to watching Jack Frost. Please don't give up on Wishmaster. No horror franchise can be left behind except Jeepers Creepers

I'm glad that you mentioned Walter Hill playing the man who gets killed in the very beginning. He also directed the outrageously schlocky Streets of Fire. By pure coincidence, my brother and I first watched Messiah of Evil immediately after watching Streets of Fire. This led to one of those moments when you make a connection on IMDb that blows your mind.
