New Darksides and Update: “Coraline, Childhood Mortality, Adolescent Dreams, and Paperhouse”

Hey!

Hope you all are well and enjoy this, I have just simultaneously posted a thread on the five dollar a month tier to brainstorm and come up with a list of benefits to add there, once we have that settled I’ll update the tier to reflect that. I also wanted to say that the History of Werewolves is still going well, just is taking more time than I imagined. To make up for that, I’ve got at least two shorter main channel videos that I’ve got going that will be there to buy a little more time while I make that one perfect. The first will be out in a couple weeks, and will be the first installment in The Twilight Zone: Anatomy of a Franchise that will start on the main channel and then will continue  periodically on Darksides as I go through the original series (sort of in the style I did with Courage just over many videos instead of one giant one). I of course will continue doing the weekly Darksides as well, so there will hopefully be a lot of fun stuff coming up that you’ll enjoy. Thanks again for everything, and I’ll be back very soon.

New Darksides and Update: “Coraline, Childhood Mortality, Adolescent Dreams, and Paperhouse”

Comments

I had no idea about paper house i see how this really dwarfs Coraline whole legacy. I will say I think the sheer level of artistry that is on display by Henry seleck and team puts the animated film in a league of its own. You gotta love stop motion operating at that level

Yeah, I still have the Final Cut file so I can do a music less version of it for sure. I don’t go a ton into the allegations but definitely touch on it in the video near the end.

In Praise of Shadows

Could you possibly repost this video for Patreon without the dog whistle sound? I really wanna listen to it, I’ve tried like 3 times but it irks me, like seriously sensory issues with it😂 Also I’d like to hear your thoughts on the on going Neil Gaiman allegations. They hit me pretty hard as he was a hero of mine.

Enthar

What's the name of the track with the high-energy metal music that suddenly cuts off? I like it.

oh this is gonna be siiiiick

Case by case basis but probably not. I liked the idea of Darksides having its own ongoing series like the main channel has. Also thought it would be away to get more people over from there to Darksides. So we will see, but I kind of foresee if I do another show after this it will be one single video like coursge was.

In Praise of Shadows

This probably doesn't need asked or answered but is that Twilight Zone instalment format going to apply for all multi-season TV franchises going forward?

Arcee the Autobot

Thanks! And I can work on that in the future, I try not to but I know I’ve occasionally picked distracting sounds for videos like that.

In Praise of Shadows

Love the video, but minor thing: I personally found the beeping from the music to be distracting. Reminded me of focusing an older digital camera.

Imma bout to make that werewolf research last longer. Here's more ideas: Not specifically werewolves/shapeshifters but important wolves in mythology like Fenrir, the Roman she-wolf and Big Bad Wolf fairy tales Paris literally besieged by wolves in middle ages The practice of giving historical serial killers werewolf-themed nicknames like the Werewolf of Bedburg or the Moon Maniac - origins of the word lunatic could be related Wolf packs hunting in WW1 trenches Saint Francis of Assisi vs the Wolf of Gubbio. Again not technically a werewolf but the story might be important for discussing the European Christianity element in the folklore. Also Gubbio is a nice name to say out loud The case of the Hexham Heads. Ghostly werewolf/were-goat apparition involved. Interesting fact about the case it occurred in the English town of Hexham which also had another alleged case paranormal regarding the reincarnation of the Pollock twin sisters some years earlier. A second weird coincidence is that Hexham in 1904 had a literal grey wolf escape from a zoo and attack local livestock so some people have made connections between the Hexham Wolf and the heads' apparition. There's a lot of other little strange and morbid tid bits about Hexham to the point where I like to think of it as the UK's Salem. It certainly has an appropriate name, although no witch burnings ever happened there to my knowledge. Draugluin, Carcharoth and the werewolves in Tolkien’s Legenderium Werewolf: The True Story of Demonic Possession. One of Ed and Lorraine Warrens’ hoaxes, this one about an alleged werewolf. Literature writer can work on that if they want Sonic the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed Moon of the Wolf Werewolf Women of the SS Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory Bonehill Road Werewolf Santa Morbach Monster. That legend deserves a movie And Lycanroc's Midnight form from Pokemon. You're a 90s kid right so may I presume you were caught up in the Pokemon craze? Something on horror in Pokemon would be nice to see some day, talking about the various inspirations for scarier designs and such. Like in a 10th anniversary extended remake of kids horror or just as a franchise video
