I Needed a Bigger Forklift

She's a real peach. 11 tons of well patinaed American iron. If that hour meter is correct, she's put up a good fight.

Of course it doesn't actually run. The starter will turn the transmission, but not the engine. That can't be good.

Video coming soon!

I loved the nervous chuckle u made when the back wheels came off the ground on the other fork lift. Mrs Wes was thinking how much life insurance do I have on him again? I bet your hands were white nuckled on that steering wheel Mine would be

We had the CAT version of the same forklift. It would go through mud and dirt. We had taken it in on trade and the truck driver brought it in explained that it was smoking really bad and the guy who traded it in said it was just plain junk wore out. So you could use it for about maybe 5 to 10 minutes and then she started smoking. So after 3 years of sitting outside running maybe a few minutes a month it did smoke. Bad. Being the bright young lad I am I checked the air filter. No mice but a large bird's nest and the air filter and pre-filter were plugged solid. Took both air filters out and the nest was gone and it ran like a charm. So we got more money for it at the auction. A lot of red-faced mechanics arguing who was the one that checked it in? Nobody had checked it in. That's why it sat out there. No cab or heat like yours but it did run!

What happened to the other forklift from location X?

boubaros

Im starting to think you like to punish yourself buying things that have 'light use' lol. Maybe get Brian to come up and do a little engine swap with you?

Darran

20k hours! She is sure to be minty!

Reese

I see a cab door! That’ll mean HVAC!! Wow! And good tires for the gravel!! Man! A steam bath and she’s perfect!!

Sammy Fender

Well since the starter is turning the transmission already.... you are almost there to having an electric forklift. Come on Wes get with the hair bun wearing/soy latte crowd and embrace the electrics. I mean who wouldn't want 9 or 10 computers on their forklift.

Casey Hill

I'm looking forward to following you on the journey from useless scrap to functional scrap Wes!

David Yates

YESSS!!!

Bryan Smith

Nah... ...Wes is a 7.3 Powerstoke fellow. There should no problem finding a rusted to the roofline farm truck to use as a donor for a fork truck engine swap. Guarantee there would enough content for at least 4 videos. IF, a HUGE IF, Wes pulled off this swap, I'd be glued to tube watching every second!

Bryan Smith

I do have faith in your nunchuck skills. ✅

Marshall

Do the Brian bloc swap, cummins make everything better

Corey Brabant

It's an upgrade!

Mark Rages

Onward and upward!

Jeffry Blackmon

I was wondering if it would clear the overhead door.

Jeffry Blackmon

"They are all idling hours" - that's what the seller said....

Chris M

As long as the price was right, the repairs I fear not, you’re a great mechanic, you fix it right or not at all, and will help your shop immensely.

Archie

I once saw a forklift lift a crate of forks. And it was way to literal for me. — Mitch Hedberg

Flying Aardvark

I can't wait to see what you find, I love old iron, Ive got a mid 80's prime mover ld50 mini loader, looks like crap, but its a hoot and very handy. Hopefully that Perkins has a standard sae pattern bell housing and flywheel should it need to be abandoned.

Greg

'Need' is relative. (So I keep telling my wife.)

centauri61032

Scrap price.

Watch Wes Work

can be a great idea to swap it. several videos struggling to fix it. then more videos for swap - profit!

Vadim

So you got a good deal?

K H

I won't rule out a swap. Maybe a Ford 300 inline 6.

Watch Wes Work

Swap to a Cummins?

Neal Schurr

you have a metal 3d printer in you shopping list, don't you?

Vadim

You're also going to need a bigger workshop at this rate!

Alan Wood

c'mon. that's the closest to the old equipment in the woods location we can get.

Vadim

a good set for torchers

Vadim

It's a Perkins engine. It's becoming hard to get parts for them.

Watch Wes Work

but from channel viewer pov, I hope it is :))))))))))))

Vadim

Why do you think it's not good? I think it will be a great content for the channel!

Vadim

No. This one is much worse.

Watch Wes Work

Hate to say, but that is the only failure mode that I can think of.

Brian Eltherington

Is this the forklift from 3 years ago?

Marco Lopes

Love it! Look forward to the videos :)

Noah Bluesky

Oh come on now!

Watch Wes Work

20,000 hrs just broke in

Terry Kasprzyk

🤦

Marshall

Back to my roots!

Watch Wes Work

I stand by it.

Watch Wes Work

I think she had something a little more civilized in mind when I said I needed another forklift.

Watch Wes Work

I'm just hoping it's not a broken crankshaft.

Watch Wes Work

What's that mean?Sheared fly wheel bolts maybe 🤔

Denis Brandis

I'm sure the Mrs. insisted that you get a bigger forklift after moving those milling machines.

Martin lewis

I recall you mentioned in a past video that a proper shop needs three things: 1. Lathe 2. A good set of torches 3. Fork Truck

Bryan Smith

The bigger ugly forklift! Excited to see what you get into there.
