UTV Modz and an Update on the Shop

A real hodgepodge of a video.

UTV Modz and an Update on the Shop

Comments

Too much fun. Now your family needs one.

Roger Howell

Hey, you paid for that dictionary, it’d be remiss of you to not use the whole damn thing…

Patrick Filion

My ceiling is 16'. If you go way back, I had my old lift in my old shop. The ceiling there was only about 10.5'. It was really a pain to work under a vehicle. I would roll around on a stool. It was great for brake jobs and things like that though. And it certainly beat working on the floor.

Watch Wes Work

Don't worry, I know. A few times I have gotten comments there wasn't enough talking or explanation. That really throws me off.

Watch Wes Work

It does, we just didn't know it!

Watch Wes Work

I think it had one in the fold down arm rest, you can see it when Wes is fitting the bar on the back of the cab.

Darran

*I forgot I promised to leave this stupid comment for all videos. I have failed you.

Jay VanLanduyt

If someone is willing to shell out $7/month or more for the trash Netflix puts out, donating to something I want to watch is an easy decision. Just a little less talk, and a little more work... Please. Please, please, please.*

Jay VanLanduyt

Because, we’re already forced to buy “ made in China” products and fund a country who would like to dominate us in global, military, and economic affairs. Why would you willingly spend hard earned money and fund the CCP if you don’t have to.

Bill Scott

Hmm. Never thought about that. I wish I could get these comments before making the videos.

Watch Wes Work

That's how it always goes! Way back in the day I had the big ugly forklift. It need so much work I finally scrapped it. No kidding a week later I was offered a parts machine for free...

Watch Wes Work

Pretentious vocabulary is one of my specialties!

Watch Wes Work

Hmm. That's odd. I like Patreon specifically because it's supposed to limit what people can give. You guys are too generous.

Watch Wes Work

There's kind of a divide on these machines. There's the $10,000 Chinese units for homeowner, and the $30,000 US or Japan units for whoever they are for. There's not much between. I don't know if duties would change that much.

Watch Wes Work

Yeah I think I could do that.

Watch Wes Work

I think it would work.

Watch Wes Work

Why? If people want to buy it, let them.

Joel C

Dunno if I would have been inclined to screw down some rubber washers on the top of the step where it wants to bang into the fender moulding. Inclined meaning it would have been thought about. Possibly discarded as a notion for needed to be on both sides to keep the step "ambidextrous."

CapnMac82

Family video 🙌

James Riordan

Maybe some kind of plastic/rubber sleeve bushing thing could fix the wobble on the step?

BitterCynic

She is right, no "cup" holders is a major flaw. Glad another void has been filled

Robert

Glad I live across the pond from bugs like that! Good to hear you had your floor pumped up too, now as you say, m/c's should be happier without the extra bounce. The wood working area is exactly what I thought you would have - just enough, to get something done! Love the video, shows how you work, one thing to the next, then back etc, just like normal people. Good lad!

Ian McKay

I'm a little slow this morning. Your lift is just over 12 feet but the ceiling height in your shop looks higher. Our concern is a vehicle would hit a 12 foot ceiling before the vehicle (like a pickup truck) is high enough to work under.

Doug Tinsman

12' A frame ladder. It's not fun.

Watch Wes Work

I guess it's called a Wheel Bug. Never seen one before.

Watch Wes Work

This lift is just over 12'. I wish it was a foot taller.

Watch Wes Work

The import duties should be tripled on that cheap Chinese junk.

Bill Scott

that’s what i thought

Paul

I upped my Patreon contribution. I didn't realize you could do a custom amount.

Jay VanLanduyt

Yeah Wes... what she said... no surfing and get some cup holders installed... 🤣🤣 In her defense YouTube shorts are as addictive as drugs... I can' stop binge watching them myself. You got your MIG back! Looks like a new torch too. Wes... what are your recommendations on the minimum ceiling height for a vehicle lift? My son has 12 foot ceilings in his pole barn and wants to add a lift. The one in this video looks perfect and the 10K load limit is enough too. We are of the mind 12 foot is too low for a lift.

Doug Tinsman

Modifying a UTV is a deep, deep rabbit hole that many have fallen into. Ask me how I know??

Sammy Fender

I am thinking that beetle is some kind of stink bug. Two points is a line sounds like a math teacher LOL..

Eric Corse

Admonish, laborious! Vocabulary is on point in this one!

Patrick Filion

It's rare that I'm so early to the comments to your videos (I can't be awake that late). I always enjoy your welding/fabricating ones.

Nicholas Hansford

It’s terrifying you had that void under your heavy machine area, glad you got it taken care of. Great job with the air system as well, how did you get access to the ceiling? Big Ladder? And lastly, nice street painting, must have been difficult with the traction lines 👍

Callan Christensen

The Chinese unit's have improved some in the years since they appeared, I had an Odes, it was a 2005 ish Yamaha Rhino clone body and chassis with a Honda 400 clone engine and transmission, dropped a valve seat at one point and the previous owner had peened it back in which did work until it didn't, no parts were available and no repair was possible due to the quality of the materials and the previous repair, I spent better part of a year trying to find a real Honda 400 engine and transmission to put in it gave up and sold it for $400, not a week went by and I found an engine and transmission.....

Kowyn Hibbert (Warrior of the Rusty Wrench)

It appears to be a wheel bug, which is a type of assassin bug. Looks like something from a horror movie.

Watch Wes Work

my thought was cut it in half and have one for each side . and that was a spotted lantern fly

gregory mais

The grab handle- maybe a through bolt and a nut inside the handle would have been acceptable?
