Life Update and Patreon Hiatus
Added 2023-12-31 03:58:45 +0000 UTCHey there everyone!
I hope your holidays are going well, mine have been very busy! Over the past couple of months it has become very apparent that my company, Scrap Yard Leather, is entering a transitionary period and is experience a number of growing pains. I've upgraded a bunch of equipment, I'm moving/balancing books to a new system, I'm in the process of hiring my first full time employee and dealing with all the taxes and paperwork that comes with it and developing a bunch of new products among other things. As a result there have been a lot of days and nights stressed out getting everything done and figuring out what to do next. In addition, to get everything ready for the convention season, I've been pulling 10-13 hour work days daily only taking Christmas Day off. Statistically, entrepreneurs run into their biggest hurtles when starting a business in their first year and then their 4th or 5th year of business. We will be entering our 5th year of Scrap Yard in April and I'm dedicated to making sure my work continues.
These long hours have left me drained by the end of the day and while I try to pick up my pencil to draw, either it doesn't cooperate or I'm just too tired to continue. With the added pressure of a paid monthly illustration what should be a relaxing activity is just putting more pressure on me to make another quota. I even tried to get a quick pic of Oscar (Fortnite) out (cause why wouldn't i OMG he's hot!), but it just wasn't working cause I was under so much stress. Therefore, I'm taking a undetermined hiatus from Patreon, pausing the monthly charges as I go, so I can fully concentrate on my work at Scrap Yard and make it the company that my clients and employees need it to be. This does not mean I'll stop drawing. This just means that if there's anything I produce, it will be because I chose to draw for my happiness and mental health rather than to meet a deadline.
I sincerely thank you all for your continued support and look forward for when I can commit my time again to Patreon and I may even come back with a new format. If you would still like to support me and my work please check out my company at Scrapyardleather.com and spread the word or you can just donate to my PayPal at the.neverwolf@gmail.com. I will also be working at the 18+ events for Scrap Yard at the coming FC and FWA, so please come say hi.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Thank you all once again and I look forward to creating for you in the future,
Sincerely,
-Scraps/Neverwolf

2023-12-31 18:53:59 +0000 UTCTake care of yourself, first and foremost. What you've accomplished with Scrapyard is incredible and it's understandable that the stress of growth/sustained progress is taking it's toll. Your art will forever bring great enjoyment to your audience and I'm sure everyone understands your need to step away from it. We'd rather you do that than grow to despise drawing or hurt yourself to meet expectations. Sending you love into the new year ๐
