Rhystic Cast #23 - Oblivion is Vibes

Today, I'm riffing about Oblivion's infinite charm and how its remaster fully delivers on its most beloved features. And no, it's not the nostalgia speaking.

Only caught up this week, but the title really captures my feelings on Oblivion quite nicely. Was in a similar situation back then, my first Elder Scrolls, played it at a similar age - and while I’ve not gone back with the remaster musings like this have made me recall lots of fond memories. I tried to make an orc berserker class, but contracted vampirism early and slid down a path of alchemy, illusion magic, and would mostly wield daggers by about 200+ hours later. Didn’t help that the Dark Brotherhood quests were among the most compelling. You already mentioned books, one of my favourite pastimes became searching all the bookstores and ancient ruins in Cyrodiil for missing tomes of some of those 7+ volume epics. Highly recommend the writings of Waughin Jarth, 'A Dance in Fire' in particular is a tale that’s stayed with me long after I’d moved on from the game. If you do end up making a Holograms video on the topic this viewer for one would certainly be delighted. Until then, shoutout to swords indeed.

Shout-out swords indeed! Shout-out claymores specifically. I'm not convinced that they are as good from a build craft standpoint as a sword and shield build, but I am playing a paladinesque Breton this time around with heavy armor, restoration and Alteration magic for protection of myself and others, blade, block, and armorer favoring a claymore (glass or ebony for aesthetics, preferably), and speechcraft so that I can lean into the beloved hero looking out for others rp. Started with the knights of the nine questline and loved how suitable it felt for the character I was aiming for. Now it feels awesome to be this champion of the nine charging into Oblivion gates to tank all of the daedric forces. Thanks for the another great pod, Sam. Great vibes just like Oblivion.
