14th March Patch information

Hiyo!

So on the 14th March which is this Tuesday the infant patch will drop. The patch will add a new lifestage infants as well as an overhaul to the piemenu and probably others things. Due to these changes which are not small, it's best to assume all of your mods are broken till confirmed fine/fixed by their creator or the people that upkeep them. Some might be fine some might not be, but patches has a habit of taking modders by surprise, you never really know till we have had a chance to go over it. 

I plan to make a "Status" post when the patch drops, listing all my mods which will be assumed broken till I have had a chance to check them. I will update the same post as I go through each mod and update their status. Once all mods have been fixed or confirmed fine, I will, apart from changing the status, make a new post stating so. 

As always it's recommend you make a backup of your sims 4 document folder BEFORE updating the game. You find it here:

Documents -> Electronic Arts -> Sims 4

Copy the whole Sims 4 folder and place it somewhere else, desktop or something like that. The folder contains your saves, screenshots, mods etc so by making a backup you keep those safe should the update bork your game. 

If you plan on playing the new update on day 1, I highly recommend you do so without your mods and saves. Just move the "Mods" and "saves" folders that are within the Sims 4 folder (The one in documents) to somewhere else. You can move those folders back anytime. Update, make a new save and enjoy.

If you plan to wait till your mods have updated but still want to play. You need to not update and have to disable automatic updates in the EA app. Do this BEFORE the patch drop, else it will start on it's own.

Click the ≡ on the left side corner (Above Home) --> Settings --> Downloads -> Scroll down a bit -> Update games automatically.

Make sure it's off. If the little circle is blue it means it's ON, so switch it off. 

Then you need to change your status to "Offline.

Click the ≡ on the left side corner (Above Home) then click "Go Offline" the update on the Sims 4 should replace to a "Play" 

(It might switch you back online if you restart the PC/EA but just switch it back to Offline, as long as the automatic update is off, you are fine, you just need it offline in order to switch the button "Update" to "Play")

I have never myself tried this as I always update on day 1 (kinda of have to if I am to fix my mods, lol) but so far I could read around, this is the way to do it. It was the same thing you had to do on Origin.
