Nyx Gaming Winter Patreon Update!

Happy Holidays, Lovely Hypnosluts! Before we get into our update, we've got a special surprise for you!

As thanks for being such lovely fans and supporting us through the lst few difficult months... we're giving a little present to all our fans! We've made what we're calling a Hypnotic Visuals Pack for all of you to enjoy. There's no audio involved with this, just a beautiful spiral pattern designed to enhance other hypnotic experiences. Try using it to improve your favorite hypnotic audio tracks, to help someone else hypnotize you, or just see what sort of patterns you can make! We may make more of these in the future, if people enjoy it... let us know your thoughts!

This will be free to all Nyx fans this Sunday, but our patrons can access it right now, at this link:

We hope you enjoy this gift, no matter what you use it for. We couldn't do what we do without you.

Returning to the update, we're excited to be back after a long Autumn. November was an annoying month to work at Nyx, as we were filing all our evil corporate paperwork. Forms for taking over other companies, forms for summoning demons, forms for what to do when someone's brain metaphorically melts out their ears, forms for cleaning up when someone's brain literally melts out their ears; we were buried in paperwork. And even worse...

In order to help handle the paperwork, some employees requested a Priestess hypnotize them to enjoy filling out forms. This worked until someone made this request itself into a form, thus leading to employees requesting more hypnosis so they could get off to the paperwork. At first it was contained, but then one of the priestesses decided to warn people not to get caught in "the paperwork spiral" in a memo. Within hours almost every employee wanted to try the "newest, horniest hypnotic spiral" and we were buried in thousands of useless forms.

Fortunately, we're back to work on our gaming projects now. We're keeping the main one under wraps, as it's shaping up to be our biggest project to date; you'll see more of it when we release a trailer next year. Meanwhile, our next text game is coming along well! Here's a brief, context-less preview of it:

Exciting! We'll let you know as soon as these games get close to playable. Additionally, we're preparing a special surprise for all our patrons, a little hypnotic download for you to enjoy. It's a small thing, but we hope that when it's ready it shows our appreciation for all of you. We're also working on some some other small content, along with our big merch update; expect both soon.. Lastly, we've set up a poll for our 5 dollar patrons to help us learn what our fans might want in future games; feel free to DM us if we missed a genre you'd like to see!

Now onto the meat of this update, the NYX GAMING END OF THE YEAR AWARDS!

First, lets be clear: we aren't claiming these are the best games of 2021. There's plenty of absolutely amazing games that didn't make this list because they aren't games we want to talk about. For example, Halo Infinite may be a fantastic game, but it didn't strike a chord as a Nyx game. On the other hand, this list also isn't the horniest games of the year. If we made that list, it'd just be list of all our own games! Rather, this is simply a list of games we think deserve a special award from Nyx Gaming and the G0DD355 herself, for all sorts of reasons. There may be some mild spoilers here, but we'll try to avoid them.

Lets start with...

THE G0DD355 AWARD for BEST ENEMY DESIGN goes to:

Deltarune Chapter 2!

Deltarune Chapter 2 was a fantastic experience, well written and fun to play in equal measure.  The queen was a great new character for the series, even if her dialog has lead to everyone calling my headset a "robot face".  We're excited to see what this series has next in store for us next. However, this award isn't just for being a "good game"...

No, We're here to talk about the werewires.

What could possibly be more Nyx than a long, hanging wire that comes out of nowhere, latches onto your face, and converts you into an obedient roboticized drone? Transforming you into something larger, more threatening, and covered in a spiraling series of lights? Now that's our sort of content! Congratulations Deltarune Chapter 2, please let us know when you're releasing a werewire plushy.

THE G0DD355 AWARD for GRAPPLING WITH THE ETHICS OF MIND CONTROL goes to

Psychonauts 2!

Sure, one could talk about how Psychonauts 2 is undoubtedly one of the best games of the year.  We could talk about how deftly it conveys an emotional story through its very level design, and how it's mechanics make those levels genuinely fun to navigate.  We could even talk about all the things that we'd love to do to our adoring fans if we had a little door directly into their minds.

But instead, we'd like to give it an award for having a plot that genuinely grapples with what is and isn't okay to do when you have power over someone's mind. While we may be villains, we still try to be ethical villains. Psychonauts 2 inspires the same thoughtful questions in its players that our developers think about every day, and that deserves an award.

THE G0DD355 AWARD for MECHANIC THAT WE THINK COULD HAVE BEEN REALLY HORNY goes to

Deathloop! (And Also A Bunch Of Others)

Time loops: they're kind of horny, is the thing. They allow you to try things without fear of consequences for as long as you desire.  You can attempt the same trick over and over to get it exactly right, or you can push your limits, seeing how many times you can experience pleasure before it grows dull. If you fuck with a loop hard enough, you might even cause some time travel shenanigans; and who doesn't want to fuck their future self?

In fact, it's such a good mechanic that a whole bunch of games used it this year!  We won't name them for fear of spoilers, but we had to choose Deathloop to receive the award. Was it the fantastic gunplay? The way its looping structure encourages interesting gameplay decisions? The incredibly fun invasion-style multiplayer? No, it's the fact that parts of the game looks like this.

What could be more Nyx?

THE G0DD355 AWARD for HOTTEST ENEMY DESIGN, AGAIN goes to:

Metroid: Dread!

From the moment we saw the trailer, we knew the E.M.M.I would be special. Look at these amazing creations. Look at long claws, the noises they make as they search for Samus, the way they light up and rush towards you when spotted, their looming stare after catching you... it's everything we want. That's why we're ALSO giving them the hottest enemy design award. Deltarune will have to learn to share. Oh, the game is also really fun. There's some other great horny content squirreled away in it, but no spoilers! Here, have a picture of the EMMI instead.

Beautiful...

THE G0DD355 award for MOST UNINTENTIONALLY HORNY goes to:

It Takes Two!

It takes a very special team to create something like It Takes Two. To win this award, you have to have an incredibly creative design philosophy. You have to really try new things with your game, things that make people go "oh that's, interesting" and activate parts of their brain they didn't know existed. You have to make something really beautiful and strange...

But most importantly, you have to have a baffling inability to capitalize on this creativity with a story that knows how horny it is. In terms of interesting kink ideas, It Takes Two has: (warning for context-free spoilers)

Any one of these we could have made an entire erotic game about! Yet, It Takes Two understands none of this, and instead tells a story about... divorce being bad, or something boring and heterosexual. We really didn't pay attention to it, honestly—we too busy thinking about how nice it would be to have cute little ball joints and yarn for hair.

Before we finish, the G0DD355 would like to list some of her favorite villains in games this year.

Congratulations to all the villainous ladies who made her list this year.

Before we move onto the final award, we'd like to give a quick shout out to all our competitors making horny games on itch.io. We love seeing what you do, and we love playing it as well. We hope 2022 is filled with even more erotic games than last year, from Nyx or otherwise.

Now... THE G0DD355 AWARD for GAME THAT INSPIRED US THE MOST is:

INSCRYPTION!

From the moment you boot it up, Inscryption begins to toy with your expectations of it. The very menu of the game is a mystery to be solved, setting a precedent the game truly delivers on. Every corner of it is filled with secrets, every moment pushing you towards new discoveries, and the presentation is beautiful to boot.

At Nyx Gaming, we don't just try to make games that are hot, we try to push the boundaries of what erotic games can be. Hypnogames are a fertile field begging to be explored, and every game we make experiments further with the combination of games and hypnosis. Even our text games try and play with user expectations, inviting them to consider the game itself as part of the experience.

But this isn't the only attitude that makes us admire Inscryption; at its core, it's also a really fun game. The card game it's based on is fun to experiment with! And this is why it wins this award. Nyx Gaming wants to push your expectations for what games can be, all while melting your brain out of your ears (metaphorically) in the process.

We hope we succeeded this year. Have a happy holidays from Nyx Gaming, and thanks for helping make 2021 a great year for us. Here's to 2022; who knows what we have in store for your minds?~
