Update on my mom, for those not in my Travel Log patreon chat

Update 9.23.25: Hey guys, so my mom is still in the hospital for the 3rd time in one month. Doctors are getting to the bottom of what's been going on. Hopefully some good news soon. I'm not saying that Patreon updates will slow down, but if they ever do, please enjoy the 1900 posts that are already available in the mean time. Thanks always for the love and support. Hey everyone! For those that weren’t in my chat in the beginning of August, you are probably unaware of the situation going on with my mom, but it’s gotten to the point where I do have to update everyone now.

So in short, my mom was admitted to the hospital for an array of reasons right before my original trip to Thailand, which caused me to reschedule it to a week later. She was discharged after about a week, and I felt comfortable to fly to Thailand on my rescheduled date. Unfortunately while I was in Thailand, my mom was readmitted into the hospital two weeks later and has been there since. My brother handled the visits as there wasn’t much I can do.

The following is a copy & paste of what I said in the chatroom today:

Thank you everyone! Alright I need to update y'all- So my mom actually has returned to the hospital for over a week now, but my brother has managed the visits while I was still in Thailand.

I didn't want anyone to worry about me especially since there wasn't a thing l could do except complete my scheduled trip. And in an ironic way, this situation gave me the clarity that it is possible to not take on all the responsibility, as I have other family to rely on while I do travel (which you kno was always a big worry for me).

Me and the fam visited her today and she is doing well. She is on track to get discharged on Tuesday, but we will see. I might stay with her over night tomorrow night, that way she has company!

So medically, what has been going on this past month is a direct result of her surgery in late June. She had most of her adrenal gland removed, so the hormones are out of whack trying to restabilize her body. So she may experience more visits to the hospital while her body sorts itself.

But nothing life threatening- it is just what we are dealing with at the current moment, so it is just a bump in the road (a long bump lol but hopefully managed in the future ). The next step is seeing her endocrinologist again, whenever that may be.

Now this next part is something I should reveal to everyone now. I’ve mentioned about it a couple times, but only in passing. But my mom has been in assisted living for the last 10 years so it has really been a long journey for me; especially in the beginning times in my early 20s when I was the sole financial supporter and then later on when I also started my YouTube journey during Covid. I always tried to keep my personal life and my online life separate, but there are way too many shows out and y’all see I cannot physically keep up at all. And this is why. And it is also why for the past 5 years, I have chosen to prioritize certain shows, over very long ones. Why I can’t finish shows sometimes, depending on my mood. Why it’s even more important for me to not sit around for 75 minutes per episode lol. I have to look at it from a business perspective half the time and see what makes sense, as I do not have much time.

It is also why I don’t take reaction requests and I never over promise. I do not have the energy, unfortunately. I’ve been doing this dance with my mom for almost 10 years so I know what I can physically/mentally manage. And I learned this the very hard way lol. And on top of that, I still have lots of commitments to uphold in my personal life that I need to reserve energy for (ie. being the man of honor for my best friend’s wedding next weekend lol).

Anyways, I just wanted to provide clarity and updates! Posts will continue on as regular, because like I said, I have only always done what I can manage. These things with my mom and my life are things I am very much used to at this point LOL. But I never fully told y’all what’s really been going on, and it has reached a point where I do have to now- especially if these hospital admittances can become more frequent.
