Give Into Us Chapter 25

She had never been allowed to take out her anger in such an unrestrained way before, she would love to be able to do it again; not that she wanted to need to again, she thought it would just be fun to do so again.
After the destruction, she started to feel like she could breathe again. It was like a breath of fresh air. Bella started to talk more, to act normal again. She still had her moments where she broke down, but her mates were always there for her. She had grown so close to them in the time since she started living at the castle, she was truly amazed they insisted they were going to get closer once she was turned. She already was spending most of her time with them and when she wasn’t, she was counting down the time to when she would be with them again.
After Edward, she never thought she would have been so needy again. She looked at the time of her life with Edward, when she was completely besotted with him, with such embarrassment. The way she acted, the way she was so addicted to him and made her life revolve completely around him, she never wanted to be that way again. She did everything she could to make sure she would never end up that obsessed with someone again; especially when both her mates started to interact with her and Bella had started to finally have feelings for them. But the more she spend time with them, the more she craved to be around them. She didn’t feel an obsessive need to be around them like she had with Edward, she just felt more complete when she was around them and was chasing that feeling; thankfully her mates seemed to be in the same boat.
Which was led to her sitting in the garden with her parents as Sulpicia went over paperwork on a concrete table, Athenodora was practicing sword moves to the side and Didyme was reading a book next to Bella on a bench.
The three queens had decided Bella needed to spend some more time alone, without either one of her mates and socialize with at least her parents more. It also didn’t help that they were all still worried about her and wanted to make sure she was still on the mend. Sulpicia came up with the idea of them going to the garden to work on different activities together while they discussed what would happen once Bella was turned.
The conversation wasn’t going in Sulpicia’s or Didyme’s way they had hoped it would. Athenodora was wisely keeping quiet, knowing the smirk she was wearing was already getting her in enough trouble without her saying anything to solidify Bella’s decision.
“There’s a lot that goes into becoming a guard member, it isn’t something that happens right away.” Sulpicia said, her paperwork starting to take much longer than necessary as more and more of her attention was being taken by Bella’s absurd request to become a guard member and go on missions with Jane. Jane didn’t become a guard member in a day, there was a lot of training. And for Bella, well, there would be a hell of a lot more training as Sulpicia would need to make sure wherever Bella went, there was practically zero chance of her being hurt.
“I know that.” Bella said with a roll of her eyes, thankful Sulpicia was looking at her paperwork again to not call her out on her manners, “I don’t expect to be turned and then start going on missions the next day.”
“Good, because there’s still your newborn year to go through.” Didyme said, mentally coming up with ways to add on more time to keep Bella at home and her newborn time was just the easiest and unavoidable way to get more time with Bella at home.
“I know that, but during that time I could be training to be ready to go on small missions sooner rather than later.” Bella argued, putting her book down after she marked her page. She felt like she was getting ready for battle. She was sure she would get her way, there was no way they wouldn’t let her be a guard member especially since Athenodora, her mother, and her two mates were guard members. And technically, she could argue Sulpicia and Didyme could be considered guard members as well since they were head of the Volturi. How could they deny her the same thing they did?
“I believe you may be forgetting getting control of your new strength.” Sulpicia said as she looked towards her daughter, she was proud how Bella was fighting for what she wanted. It showed that she was in fact getting better and becoming happier with her new life; she just wished she wasn’t arguing for something Sulpicia hadn’t necessarily wanted for her daughter. “How long do you think it will take you to be able to hold this pen? Or to open a door? We can’t very well have you around humans so they can see you destroying metal vehicles by just trying to get out of it.”
Well, that was a good point, Bella thought. But that was only a delay, not something that would prevent her from becoming a guard member. Obviously, she would eventually gain control over her new abilities as a vampire, then once she did, she could venture out on missions with Heidi and then with Jane since Jane went on the more dangerous missions and Heidi tended to stay here for her fishing abilities unless her unique gift was required someplace.
“Okay, so then I won’t be able to touch things for a little bit.” Bella relented a little, “But that still isn’t a reason for me not to be a guard member. That just means I’ll have to stay at home and train more before I can go on an actual mission.”
Didyme wanted to gush and bask in the joy of Bella finally calling the castle her home but there were more important things to focus on and no matter how Bella tried to distract them with their own feelings, Didyme wouldn’t allow herself to get distracted.
“We’re not saying you can’t be a guard member.” Didyme said, trying a different tactic, “All we’re saying is that you shouldn’t jump right into the guard. Jane and Heidi can take some time off and you three, after you have control, can travel the world. You can go and venture to places you never would have been able to as a human. The wonders of the world would be completely open to you. All we’re saying, is that perhaps you should enjoy your time as a vampire first before being locked in as a guard member.” Didyme was particularly proud of her distraction. They were perfectly okay with Bella taking a year or two with her mates to go galivanting around the globe every so often. Didyme was hoping Bella would enjoy traveling and seeing the sights so much, she would opt not to join the guard and have her travel restricted.
“I hadn’t thought of that.” Bella admitted.
She had been so gung-ho about becoming a guard member, she never thought of all the different things that would be available to her once she was turned and gained control over herself. All she knew was that she wanted to be with her mates and she didn’t want to repeat school for eternity. But traveling? She honestly hadn’t thought of it; and neither of her mates had said anything either.
“Well, I guess that would be fun.” Bella admitted, who wouldn’t want to travel? Especially when she knew all her expenses would be covered by either her mates or her parents. She had already been given access to her parents funds, so the fear of not being able to afford going someplace wasn’t there. There would be some restrictions of course because of the sun, but for the most part, she would be able to go anywhere.
“You can go to every continent, even Antarctica and spend as much time as you want there.” Didyme added, latching onto the idea of traveling. It wasn’t something she knew her daughter would want to do permanently but she could still hope. “There would be very little restrictions with where and how long you can go someplace.” She added with a large smile.
“I imagine I would want to travel for a little while.” Bella said as she thought over the logistics, “As long as they’re allowed to come with me.” She quickly added, knowing how serious at least Jane took her job. The blonde would never admit it but Bella knew Jane really loved her job while Heidi may enjoy it, but to Jane, it practically defined her. Bella couldn’t imagine Jane not being part of the Volturi.
“Of course, they would.” Sulpicia added, knowing that Heidi and Jane were Bella’s personal guard. Bella would be assigned other guard members after she was changed and her gift was revealed; Sulpicia knew there was no way Bella’s silent mind wouldn’t manifest into a shield of some sort once she was turned. In the meantime, while Bella was still human and had very protective mates and parents as Bella was so susceptible to being hurt, only Heidi and Jane would be her guards. “We would never dream of depriving you of their presence while you are out of the castle.”
“But I wouldn’t want to do that forever.” Bella cautioned, “Although, it would be a good way to train. Jane and Heidi can train me while we’re traveling; there would be so many different scenarios abroad, so much more than can be done while in the castle!” Bella said with a wide smile, more amused that she knew the idea of traveling backfired on her parents in such a glorious way.
Athenodora had been so good with keeping to herself when the topic of Bella joining the guard had been brought. Her mates would rather keep both her and their daughter locked in the castle but Athenodora knew that wasn’t going to happen. Bella had been so restrictive with what she could do while she was human, much as Athenodora had been, there was little chance of their daughter being okay with just doing desk work of some sort for eternity.
Athenodora started laughing, no longer able to keep her sword in its’ proper position. She couldn’t be prouder of Bella.
“You two really underestimated our Bella.” Athenodora said with a smile as she walked closer to the trio, completely ignoring the glares her mates were giving her and instead walked right up to her daughter, pulled her from her seat and wrapped her in a tight, one armed hug, still mindful of her sword. “Of course you can join the guard, we can even start your training now, so you can get a taste for it. I’m sure your mates, particularly Jane, would love for you to join the guard and go with them on missions. Come, you can come with me to my office and we can talk more in depth about what to expect as part of the guard and as our daughter without these two worry warts interrupting us.” She added with a wink towards her mate as she started to lead Bella away towards her office she had dedicated to the guard work she did. She was looking forward to bringing Bella into her world, into her passion. She hoped Bella would enjoy it just as much.
Sulpicia and Didyme watched as the two walked around a hedge, no longer able to see them but still able to heard them clearly.
“That didn’t go how I wanted it to.” Didyme said with a frown.
“Is this how you two feel all the time?” Sulpicia asked with a worried look towards her noir mate.
“How so dear?” Didyme asked, confused on what her blonde mate meant.
“If I was able to use my gift on her, I would have known exactly what to say and when to get her to at least hold off on joining the guard, I’m sure of it. But I felt entirely blind during the entire conversation.” Sulpicia said with a frown, not at all liking the feeling of no control she had during the conversation.
Didyme rolled her eyes, “Of course that’s what you’re most worried about.” Didyme huffed before closing her book and moving to make her way to her own office. The least she could do to be more supportive was to order some practice equipment and clothes their human daughter can use and would need. “Do try not to be so sad about it.” She added before racing off, not wanting to hear Sulpicia complain about something literally every other person had to deal with. Perhaps some other time she can ask her daughter to hold off a little before joining.
