Give Into Us Chapter 19

I don't normally added author's not, but I felt it's needed with this chapter. It's nothing too graphic but TW for sexual harassment. (small spoiler but not really because it was in the movies) It's basically what Jacob did to Bella when she punched him but her thoughts spiral a little, so nothing graphic but I just wanted to give a heads up just in case; better safe than sorry right?

Bella wanted to hang out with her friends and relax for a little bit. With everything that was going on, she just wanted some normalcy. She really wanted to just get away from the supernatural world for a bit but if she were to hang out with her human friends, she wouldn’t be able to vent about what was bugging her. So, the shifters were the next best thing since they were a lot more chill than the vampires and she wasn’t annoyed with them. She was bored of waiting with the Volturi and the Cullen’s, just waiting for ‘the perfect’ opportunity to attack Victoria. She was bored of everyone around her, really just the vampires and usually the Cullen’s, pointing out how weak she was and how she really couldn’t participate in her own defense. She was just tired.

Hanging out with the wolves would not only be entertaining but it would just be a nice little get-away from dealing with Victoria. Yes, the wolves were helping there too but they wouldn’t bring up the fight that was to come. They wouldn’t bring up how Bella couldn’t help with any fighting, they would just tease her that she would be more likely to trip when running into a fight instead of actually running. They would act like she was one of them, not just some human sidekick that couldn’t really do anything.

Bella was looking forward to either hanging out with everyone while they either played video games against each other, everyone taking turns since there were only two controllers or watching Jacob and possibly a couple others work on cars. Bella would take anything because she knew no matter what they did, she would be included in the conversations in some way and never left out.

Bella drove straight to Jacob’s house, knowing to park on the side right by the garage. Bella didn’t see any other cars there besides the ones that belonged there but that didn’t necessarily mean no one was there. Most of the shifters tended to travel by foot because it was either too nice outside not to or they shifted and it was just faster that way.

She headed straight towards the garage, knowing her best bet to find someone was there and then she would knock and see if Billy was home and if he knew where his son was.

Thankfully, Bella was in luck and Jacob was under his Rabbit working on it.

“Hey Jake.” Bella greeted once she was nearly inside the garage.

“Hey Bells.” Jacob greeted, not bothering to move from underneath the car. He had heard Bella walk up and was only waiting for his friend to greet him first. He wasn’t expecting her to come over but he wasn’t about to send her away either. He was always happy to have her around, her company would always be welcomed as far as he was concerned. “What’s up?” He wasn’t due for patrol until later that night. In fact, he should be sleeping so he wouldn’t be tired while on patrol but he had an itch to work on his car and he couldn’t ignore that feeling.

“I just wanted to hang out someplace that was vampire free.” Bella answered as she collapsed onto the beaten up couch he had for when friends came over to hang out while he was with his car and they didn’t want to help him.

“You came to the right place then.” Jacob said with a huge grin.

Jacob continued working on his, telling Bella what he was doing and Bella pretended to understand what he was talking about and made random comments that were safe enough to not reflect how much everything was going over her head but still showed she was paying attention. Jacob knew Bella didn’t know much about cars, which was why he always told her what she was doing. He figured if he talked about them enough with her she would eventually remember. Truthfully, Bella just didn’t care enough about to cars to put the effort into remembering.

Eventually though, once Jacob was no longer under the car and instead working inside the car on the radio, curiosity got the better of him.

“So, what actually brought you down here?” He asked in a more serious tone than he had been using for the last half hour or so. “Not that I mind you being here, I think it’s great, but why are you hiding from the vampires?” Jacob had to consciously put effort into not calling them leeches. Yes, he was helping them and vice-versa but just because they were working together didn’t mean those red-eyed ones were good vampires. He didn’t even think the Cullen’s were good people but at least they were trying not to kill humans. The red-eyed leeches didn’t seem to give a shit about killing humans and Jacob didn’t like that.

Bella sighed at that. She knew how much Jacob still didn’t like vampires and while he was putting in a lot of effort to hide that fact, she knew very well all the shifters still hated all the vampires they were working with. Bella wanted to offload everything she was feeling but she knew telling anyone on the reservation but Emily meant word would get around the pack and they might try to pick a fight out of protecting her honor or something stupid.

“I just wanted to hang out around someone more normal.” Bella admitted, “I couldn’t go to my human friends because I can’t really tell them much of anything and coming here meant all the vampires couldn’t follow me and since you guys are as close to human as it gets around here, I figured why not? I haven’t really just hung out in a while.” She said with a smile as Jacob crawled out of the front seat.

“So, you came here to hide from them?” Jacob asked with a worried look.

“No, well, not really.” Bella answered, unsure how to phrase exactly what she was feeling. “I just wanted to get away for a little, just to pretend to be as normal as possible for a little while.”

Understanding went through Jacob’s eyes as he got closer to her while wiping his hands on the rag he had in his pocked. “See, doesn’t that tell you something Bella?” Jacob asked, seeing the perfect opportunity to remind Bella she had better options waiting for her that didn’t include cuddling next to a dead body. “You should just stay here, where you fit in a lot better than with any of those leeches.” Jacob didn’t even realize he had used a word he knew Bella didn’t like. It was such an automatic thing to call vampires leeches that it was easy for him to forget to switch words; especially when he was so focused on convincing Bella.

Bella stood from her seat, not wanting to be sitting for the conversation she was about have. Hopefully she wouldn’t end up too pissed at Jacob and could just straight over to Emily’s to vent to her. “I wouldn’t fit in much better here either Jacob. I don’t know if you’ve forgotten or something, but I’m human. I would really only fit in with other humans, not people that turn into giant dogs.” She said, getting angry. He better drop this conversation or she was going to leave.

“So? That doesn’t matter to any of us, especially not to me. With me, at least I can sleep, I have a heartbeat. What do those leeches have that I can’t offer?” Jacob pleaded as he took a few more steps to get closer to her. They were so close, they were practically in each other’s space.

Bella didn’t like it buts he couldn’t back up without falling onto the couch. “It’s not a competition Jacob! I can’t list off things that would ‘put you ahead’ of them because that isn’t how relationships work.”

Hearing the word relationship leave Bella’s mouth set something off inside of him that made him either want to shift in anger for those leeches tricky Bella into thinking they were better or doing something else he was sure would convince her to ditch them and stay with him.

Jacob grabbed Bella’s shoulders and pulled her into him as he kissed her with everything he had. He wanted to show her via the kiss how right they were. How perfect they could be together if she would just stop romanticizing Dracula.

Kissing Bella was everything Jacob thought it would be. All the other wolves thought he was ridiculous for always daydreaming about kissing Bella one day; Leah had even threatened to somehow file sexual harassment charges from how often he thought about. But kissing her now only showed he was right all along. He knew they were meant to be.

Bella’s mind froze when Jacob pulled him into her. She had no idea what he was planning or why. It wasn’t until his lips were on his that she realized, much too late of course, what his intentions were. After a second or two her shock from the situation broke and she tried to step away but his hands on her shoulders were too strong. When she started hitting his chest and pushing, he finally pulled away with a confused look on his.

Without thinking, if she had been she would have waiting for Jane to get ahold of him, she swung her fist as hard as she could and hit him square in the face.

“What the hell Bella?” Jacob asked in anger, not from being hurt of course, there was no way Bella would be able to hurt him, but just over the fact she tried to. Who the hell kisses and then punches the person?

“That’s the least you deserve Jacob!” Bella yelled as she started to side step away from him, actually afraid to turn her back on him. She had never been afraid of him before, and she was almost ashamed that she was afraid of him. She had to actually remind herself that she didn’t do anything wrong and that it was his fault entirely that she was afraid of him because of what he did. “You don’t just kiss someone and then not let them leave! What would you have done if I wasn’t pushing and punching you? Would have even stopped? How did you not realize I didn’t want to kiss you? That was never on the table!” Bella was throwing out questions without giving him a chance to respond because she honestly didn’t want to hear him talk. She just wanted to leave and the sooner she got to her truck without have to be polite and listen to him talk the better. Well, she guessed she didn’t technically have to listen to him if she didn’t want to.

“What the hell do you mean?” Jacob asked, confused on why Bella was so upset. “That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do, how did you not know? How do you not see from how well we fit that I’m the better choice?” Jacob asked as he started to follow Bella as she backed away towards her truck. Her heart was beating a mile a minute and he was slightly concerned she was about to have a panic attack; but what was there for her to panic about?

“Don’t come near me Jacob Black if you know what’s good for you.” She threatened as she struggled to unlock her door; did she always struggle this much with just getting into her truck. Why did she even lock it in the first place; she rarely ever did that when she was on the Rez.

Billy rolled out of his house, not because he heard the yelling, he was so used to the boys yelling all the time while just talking that he automatically tuned it out now, but because he just got a phone call that Bella needed to hear about. He didn’t even know she was there but apparently after calling a few people Bella was tracked down to his house. Given how urgent the call was, Billy was shocked they hadn’t sent a patrol car to drive her instead of letting her drive herself.

“Bella, I just got a call.” Billy started but was cut off by Bella herself, already nearly in tears. Did the boys hear about it first and already tell her? He knew news could travel fast with the pack but he hadn’t thought anyone from the pack was so close to Seattle. Maybe one of them was on patrol around there and he didn’t know about it?

“I’m sorry Billy, I’ll have Charlie call you when he gets home but I need to go now.” Bella said, tears starting to fall from her face, her breathing was starting to get more difficult. She was never afraid of Jacob before but now all she could think about was how far he would have gone if she had stayed frozen instead of fighting back. Had he even felt her fight back and she was just lucky he needed to pause for breathe?

“What the hell did you do Jacob?” Billy asked with a fierce glare as they listened to Bella practically peel away from them. Jacob knew he was in a lot of trouble.

Bella ignored whatever Billy had said and just climbed in her truck, she finally realized she hadn’t locked it and could just get in and leave. She didn’t even look towards Jacob to see if she would hit him on her way out; even if she did hit him or run over a foot, he either wouldn’t feel it or would just heal in a few minutes. She just left, not paying attention to anything but trying to keep her eyes clear from the tears that were gathering there and trying her best to take deep breathes.

When she finally crossed over the border, at least she thought she was over, she pulled over in a safe spot and cried. She wasn’t even sure what she was crying about; Jacob hadn’t actually hurt her. She felt betrayed sure, but was that really enough to cry over? Apparently, it was since her tears kept coming.

Her door was slammed open, nearly being ripped off.

“No!” Bella yelled at the top of her lungs afraid it was Jacob coming to do something, to either argue some more or something else Bella really didn’t want to think about. Instead, she saw Jane with pitch black eyes and snarl on her lips that probably would have scared the shit out of anybody else. But with Bella, she just flung herself into Jane, and cried on her shoulder.

Jane caught Bella, because what else could she do when her mate literally flings herself at her? But having the woman crying in her arms made Jane panic herself. She knew she wasn’t good with emotions, she was so much better with actions. Whoever made Bella cry like this, the woman was seemingly about to have a panic and Jane had no idea how to stop it, she wanted to hurt them. She wanted to torture them and make them pay for days on end for making her mate cry. But she couldn’t do that with her mate clinging to her.

She awkwardly pat her mate’s back as she eyed the road, looking for Heidi to make her appearance. Heidi was so much better with emotions and for once, Jane actually wanted Heidi to be there and would even be willing to ask the other woman for help. She would do anything for Bella and asking for Heidi to help soothe Bella was something she was more than easily okay with.

Thankfully, just a few minutes later, Heidi slid into the passenger seat, gesturing for Jane to help gently move Bella into her arms.

“Take us to her home.” Heidi whispered as she took her mate who was thankfully no longer but was still clearly upset and definitely still demanding cuddles. “We need to get her home and in a comfortable setting and once she’s calmed down, she’ll tell us what happened.” Heidi told Jane.

The blonde looked towards where her mate had been, towards the reservation and wanted to just follow her mates trail there and kill whoever she found at the other end. But, as much as Jane loathed to admit it, she knew her mate wouldn’t like that. Bella wouldn’t want Jane to kill on her behalf no matter how much Jane was willing to beg to do so. So, she would follow Heidi’s advice and drive them to Bella’s house.

Once they were there and had more information, they would call Bella’s parents. She was sure they had felt Bella’s distress as well and would likely call soon if they didn’t to demand answers. Jane needed to make sure they had those answers before they talk or they would probably just fly straight here to take Bella home and they all knew Bella didn’t want that.

It was going to be difficult to fight her instincts to not kill whoever hurt her human, but she would refrain for Bella’s sake.

Perhaps she would Jane use her gift instead?

Comments

I think her reaction was perfectly normal especially after being in a relationship with Edward. He had her CORNERED she could move and he's a 'werewolf' what could she really do to him to get him to stop? I don't think it's spiralling I think it's her brain going through the possibilities.
