Ban Together Chapter 36

Bella, Kate and Jane were in their own bedroom, having a serious conversation that Bella hadn’t thought Kate would be able to have. Apparently, the blonde warrior was able to have serious conversations when she needed to. Bella was impressed.

“The decision is entirely yours, we just want to make sure you have all the information.” Jane said with her usual serious tone.

Bella had asked if there was any time frame, they wanted her to be changed. She knew she wanted to be changed. Since Kate kidnapped her, Bella’s desire to be changed was reignited from when she had been close to the Cullen’s; but this feeling felt different than before. Before, she wanted to be changed so she could fit in and no longer make those she thought cared for her suffer with smelling her blood. But now, now she wanted to be changed because she couldn’t imagine not having an eternity with Kate and Jane. If there was one thing her vampires, these vampires, had taught her in the short time she had known them, she was allowed to be selfish; especially when it came to her mates.

“Being turned is going to hurt like hell and the more information you have for when you wake up, the better chance you have of not entirely freaking out about all the enhanced senses.” Kate said with a serious look that quickly turned salacious, “Then once you see us in all our inhuman glory, you can jump our bones and fully appreciate how hot I, I mean, we are.”

“Try to be serious for longer than thirty seconds.” Jane said with a hiss, regardless of if she thought Kate was right or not. She knew very well how little focus newborns had beyond hunger. Either hunger for food or for the vampires willing mates. It wouldn’t be the first time the castle hosted a newborn with more than one waiting mate and the chaos of the newborn deciding what they wanted. It would be an interesting time and honestly, Jane was looking forward to it with her own mate… Kate would nice to have there as well.

“Beyond unimaginable pain and apparently super enhanced senses once I wake up, what else can I expect?” Bella asked, looking towards Kate and pointing a finger at her, “Except apparently wanting to have a marathon of sex with you two.” Bella silently cursed herself for her face blushing bright red as thoughts of what could happen between the three of them.

That train of thought brought on another question she had; where they all three mates? Hadn’t Kate and Jane met before when the Denali’s were dealing with the fallout of what their creator had done? It was an emotional conversation that had Kate alternating between sneering, hissing and looking to be near to tears while explaining what happened. Jane hadn’t said a word as Kate explained and Bella thought she had wanted to interrupt several times to correct assumptions Kate and her sisters had made about what had happened, but she kept silent and never actually commented on her point of view of what happened.

The point though, wouldn’t they have known they were mates at that point? Were they mates? If they weren’t mates, what were they? They were definitely Bella’s mates and Bella would be willing to bet if she had been in Jane’s shoes, things would have gone a lot differently. Shouldn’t the two have had a connection then?

“What are you guys?” Bella blurted, completely changing topics. She figured she had enough information on what changing would be like; it wasn’t like she would really know anything until she went through it herself anyways.

“We’re vampires?” Kate asked, unsure if her mate was starting to lose her mind with learning so much about the supernatural. Perhaps the natural human fear of something different was finally kicking in and Bella was realizing she was around apex predators.

“What do you mean?” Jane asked after rolling her eyes at Kate and calling her an idiot in vampire speed so Bella wouldn’t chastise her for being mean. Her mate was really too nice and while Jane was endeared to it, she didn’t like getting scolded like a child because of it… especially since her instincts always made her listen to her mate and do as she asked. It was quite annoying.

Bella chose to ignore Kate and answered Jane directly, “Are you guys mates?” Bella asked outright. She didn’t want Kate to miss what she was asking again.

“No.” Jane decisively answered the same time Kate said ‘hell no’. “You are my only mate, as far as I’m aware. Kate is more of a… person that can help me protect and make the person I love the most very happy. We have the same end goal with the same person and neither of us mind the other’s importance to you.” Jane answered.

She hadn’t thought that at first. In fact, in her own mind, she had been very pissed when she found she and Kate shared the same mate. She had to talk a lot with both Sulpicia and Didyme about the odd mate triad she had with Kate and Bella. Thankfully, it hadn’t taken long for sense to be knocked into her as trouble was clearly after her mate and there were more important things she needed to be worried about, not the fact her mate had another mate. It wasn’t like it was something to their world, it was just something unexpected for Jane. She learned quickly that she wasn’t sharing her mate, she was simply gaining another ally to protect her mate who was clearly a danger magnet. Jane was slightly concerned what sort of trouble she would garner as a vampire if she had all this trouble as a human. She would never tell Kate, but thinking about how much danger Bella may be in the future, she was very thankful to have Kate to help keep Bella safe.

Kate thought over, as quickly as she could, as Jane gave a brief answer. She and Jane had a rocky past, that was for sure. She couldn’t ignore the fact Jane had played a paramount roll in killing her maker; something that had haunted her and her sisters for their entire immortal lives. At the same time, Kate didn’t want Bella to think that they didn’t like each other. Yes, they shared the same goal and same mate, but Kate would be damned if Jane was in trouble and she didn’t do anything to help. Jane may not be her mate, but she was very much important to her now and she genuinely wanted Jane happy. If Kate was even honesty with herself, she did find Jane attractive and if things went that route, which it very well could when Bella woke as a newborn, Kate wouldn’t complain.

“We’re a united pair.” Kate settled with, “We want the same thing and happen to share the same desires and while we aren’t mates ourselves, I can see us getting really close in the future.” Kate admitted, even if at the moment she knew she couldn’t call Jane hers but she knew, without a doubt, given time, she would eventually see Jane as a mate; even if a bond didn’t cement the fact. Chosen mates could be just as lovely as bonded mates as far as Kate was concerned.

“I just want you guys to feel like if I spend time with one of you, that I’m ignoring the other.” Bella hadn’t spent individual time with either woman, except when Kate had kidnapped her and she didn’t know Jane. But she could see herself wanting to spend some alone time with just one instead of the other; or vice-versa, one of them may want some alone time with her. Could that get messy? Bella wasn’t sure, based off of what she was being told about being a newborn, would her super focused newborn mind hyper focus on one of them and forget about the other? Would that hurt the one being ignored?

Jane snorted and rolled her eyes. As far as Jane was concerned, that was something Bella didn’t need to be worried about. There was no way her spending time with the other would hurt one of them. But since Bella didn’t fully understand bonds, at least not until she could feel them as intensely as vampires could. Kate at least only smiled adoringly at her mate for the question.

“You seem to be underestimating how hard it is for a mate to hurt a mate; no matter how lost you are to your newborn instincts, they will still know not to hurt us. We know, even now, there will be times you will want to spend alone with just one of us and it would never hurt us. I swear, you can’t hurt us even if you tried.” Kate said with a wide smile.

“It also helps that as long as we continue to talk things through, regardless of how little or big a situation may be, you have nothing to worry about.” Jane assured her mate. Bella would understand once she was a vampire and more under the control to her instincts that it would be near impossible for Bella to consciously do something she knows has even just a small chance to hurt her mate. “But it is very nice to hear how worried you are about us but I promise, you have nothing to worry about.”

Bella smiled at her mates, happy to be getting real answers and knowing they weren’t holding anything back. She was confident if there was something she needed to be worried about, they would have told her. They wouldn’t tell her any lies or half truths to spare her feelings, she knew they would tell her everything she asked and would hold nothing back.

Honestly, she was looking forward to being changed. It was the only next logical step to take, especially while there were still vampires out there that could very well decide they needed to finish whatever experiments they were planning to do with her. They would have a lot harder time of doing so if she were a vampire.
