Believe Me Chapter 29

Bella and Kate were in a stare off. Bella’s face was bright red and it was a struggle for her to keep her composure and keep in the stare off. For Kate’s part, she was fighting back a grin, trying her best not to coo at how cute Bella was being and do her best to embarrass her more. They were in a standoff, Kate wanted one thing, all for Bella’s benefit of course, and Bella wanted something else. Kate was really just trying to be nice and Bella was over thinking everything.

“Come on Bella, I don’t see anything wrong with it.” Kate said with a teasing smirk.

“Be nice Kate.” Irina cautioned from just behind her, ready to pull Kate back if the other blonde went too far… which she was likely to do given who she was.

“I don’t see why you need to make me a room full of windows.” Bella said, keeping her stance.

Truthfully, Kate didn’t want to build the soon-to-be newborn a clear room, she was just teasing the younger woman. She knew the human would want privacy, especially when the two were both vampires and going at it like rabbits. Kate was just acting like an over-protective mom supped up on energy drinks because it amused the hell out of her. The fact that Bella was getting riled up about it too was just a bonus as far as Kate was concerned.

“You know she’s just messing with you Bella,” Victoria said as she put a hand on her human’s shoulder. They had only been at the Denali’s for a couple days but it was enough for them to finalize their plans to turn Bella. “You can just drop it.” She cautioned.

They had been talking about whether to say within the Denali house or if having a cabin to their own built a mile or so away, still within hearing range, so they can have privacy during Bella’s newborn years. That’s where Kate couldn’t help herself but tease Bella about how sex craved she would be once she was a newborn. Bella was definitely looking forward to that part, but she didn’t exactly want to talk about it so freely with everyone. Having Kate talk so brazenly about it was something Bella wasn’t used to from her last relationship and even her family. Renee may have been very carefree but there still topics she wouldn’t discuss with her daughter and sex was one of them. Nevermind Charlie and how awkward he was with just asking if Bella was interested in a boy much less anything beyond that.

But to hear Kate and the other Denali’s, even Victoria had no problem discussing how much she could care less about their privacy as long as no one else was in the room with the two of them, Bella simply wasn’t used to it. And Kate knew it.

“I don’t want to risk Kate being some sort of creeper and trying to see something.” Bella argued, not moving her gaze off of Kate. Kate had started to go on and on about all the plans about a glass room and how much fun it would be to build.

“It’ll be perfect because then we can make sure nothing shady happens.” Kate said then gave a quick look towards Victoria, “We wouldn’t want anything untoward to happen to our daughter, would we?” She gave a lecherous grin to Bella, absolutely enjoying the bright blush taking over the human’s face.

Bella opened her mouth to argue more with Kate about how stupid she was being, but Tanya beat her to it.

“Cut it out Kate.” Tanya commanded, “I don’t get why you are trying to rile her up when Carmen and Esme have already nearly finished remodeling one of our cabins for them. It almost seems like you are just trying to be a bully now.” Tanya put her arms around Bella’s shoulders and started to lead the woman away, “Just ignore Kate, she tends to try and rile everyone up when she’s nervous.”

“I’m not nervous.” Kate muttered as she started to follow Tanya, Bella and Victoria from the room towards outside. “I’m concerned.”

“Then show it better.” Irina said as she wrapped her arm around Kate’s waist, “She’s being turned not killed. You don’t want her waking up to being pissed at you for your lack of proper jokes and timing.” Irina gently scolded.

“You remodeled a cabin for us?” Bella asked, completely relieved about the news. She had been wanting to get closer with Victoria but they had both wanted to wait until Bella was turned so that there was no chance of Victoria accidently losing control and hurting Bella and Victoria being able to fully enjoy being with Bella without having to hold back. It was hard not to escalate anything but both Bella and Victoria were determined to wait until they were both able to equally enjoy their first time together. In the meantime, they did everything but remove clothes; which meant getting caught in a few precarious positions by everyone in the house. It was exactly that which led to Kate making the comments she had.

“Of course we did; every new mated pair should have their own space.” Tanya said with a smiled as they walked outside.

Victoria quickly picked up Bella, “I had thought they were just building something for Leah and Esme, I was mistaken.” She said before they all sped off towards the cabin in question.

Leah and Esme were quickly welcomed into the Denali Coven with Bella and Victoria. Tanya had immediately made the Volturi aware of their new size to ensure they stayed off their radar of having to attack. The Denali’s would make sure to not repeat their former cousin’s mistakes and would be extra diligent in protecting their own, especially with their new size.

Victoria didn’t stop walking in vampire speed until she was laying Bella on a bed. No one had followed them inside the house. The rest of the group stayed outside, listening intently to make sure Victoria was able to administer enough venom and not lose control herself. They wanted to respect Bella and Victoria’s wishes while not overstepping their boundaries or crowding the couple.

“It will be over quickly, in three days.” Victoria promised her mate, “Take deep breathes and know that I will not leave you once.”

“I know, I trust you.” Bella said before pulled Victoria in for what felt like could possibly be her last kiss. She knew it wouldn’t be, but there was still a small chance Bella wouldn’t make through the transition.

Victoria reciprocated the kiss with greedy lips. She slowly trailed down Bella’s throat, gently lowering her soon to be newborn mate to lay fully on the mattress. As quick as she could, Victoria bit down on Bella’s chest, making sure her bite would covered if her mate wanted it to be in order to blend in with the humans she claimed she would still want to be around but close to her heart to hopefully make the transition that much faster.

Once Victoria pulled away, all the vampires around the cabin slowly made their way back towards the main house, all except Tanya. It was her job to make sure Victoria would leave soon in order to hunt so Tanya could go in and clean up any blood remaining from the fresh wound so Victoria could spend the entire three days by Bella’s side and not have to worry about leaving her.

Victoria pulled away from Bella slowly, every cell in her body wanting her to stay put and be there for her mate while she was clearly starting to be in the worst pain anyone could go through. But she knew she needed to hunt and she knew this pain was by far the least amount of pain her mate would be. With gritted teeth she bolted from the house, leaving Tanya to do her part. Victoria would hunt fast so that she could be back as soon as possible so she could comfort her mate in whatever way she could.

For Bella’s part, all she could feel was an all consuming pain she believed the others had greatly downplayed.
