Twilight One Shot - Bella/Maggie

For reference, in this story Maggie was nineteen when she was turned, not fifteen.

Bella was gifted a trip to anywhere in Europe she wanted for a vacation of tours across her chosen country. Charlie had been so proud she had graduated as valedictorian and was set to start university at the start of the next term on a full scholastic scholarship that he figured with all the money they would both be saving from Bella’s scholarships, he figured it was the best graduation present he could give. Since she was eighteen, she was technically allowed to go by herself; even though Charlie was worried about her being safe while traveling alone. It was eventually decided, after days of research, Ireland would be a safe and interesting place for her to go visit to study the culture before being bogged down with her studies.

Bella made sure to take all the money she received for graduation and put it towards all the tours and entrance fees she would need for the museums. Charlie and Renee helped a lot but Bella didn’t want to be such a big burden since they were both already paying for the plane tickets and hotel stays. But Bella also didn’t want to miss out on anything; she had always had a fascination for Ireland since she was a little girl. It was something Renee never understood since they weren’t Irish and didn’t know anyone from Ireland, but Bella had always favored the country.

Bella would be spending a full month there; well, more like three weeks but that would seem like a month. She would be so busy doing everything she could since she had no idea when she would be able to go to Ireland again, she would hardly have any free time to do anything. Charlie had already been made aware she would check in everyday to make sure she was still safe.

She had arrived at Ireland the day before, late in the afternoon. Today would be her first full day in the country. Bella made sure she was up and ready early enough to get breakfast and leave the hotel in time for the first tour of many.

She was one of the first people there and definitely the most excited; she couldn’t keep the grin off her face if she tried. Which she would never do because she was much too excited and too happy to try and hide it. She was practically bouncing on the balls of her feet as she waited for the whole group to check in with the tour guide; hopefully it would only take a little longer before they could get to learn about the castle.

“You know, if you keep bouncing like that someone might think you’re up to something.” A voice said, the timbre of the woman’s voice sent shivers down Bella’s spine.

With a bashful smile because she hadn’t wanted to stand out too much; especially not with such a beautiful woman there to call her out.

“Sorry, this is first tour of my vacation here, so I’m just really excited.” Bella said, her smile not faltering a bit.

Normally Bella wasn’t one to talk with strangers, especially when she didn’t know anyone or anything in the area to get to safety if the stranger turned out to be a stranger danger type person. But Bella didn’t feel scared of this person and a part of her even hoped the local, there was no way the woman was faking the accent in Ireland of all places, would offer to show her some amazing places only locals knew about.

“Well, I can tell you there are better places to tour than this dusty old building.” The woman said as she looked around the room, waving her arms around as if to help prove her point.

“The building is old,” Bella granted, she wasn’t wrong about that. “But I read there is a lot of history that happened in this building, and that’s what I’m excited to see.” Bella said with a smile like she had won whatever non-existent argument they were having.

“You came all the way here for some boring old history you could easily read in a book?” The redhead said with a skeptical tone.

Bella’s blush came back from hearing how nerdy she was sounding to the woman. “Well, I like history a lot.” Bella defended, “I thought it would be fun.”

The woman tilted her head, as if trying to decide if what Bella said was the truth or not.

“You really did, didn’t you?” The woman asked as if she was shocked someone would tell her the truth. Why would Bella lie about why she was visiting another country? Especially since her reason had to be very common amongst the other tourists that came to Ireland.

“Well, yeah.” Bella said with a shrug of her shoulders.

Before either woman could add anymore to the conversation that Bella wasn’t entirely sure why she was having in the first place but was more than happy to continue, the tour guide announced everyone for the tour was there and the castle management was ready for them to go inside.

Bella turned to say something, to either invite her to tag along and hope the tour guide didn’t notice the extra person, or to offer to meet up someplace else, the woman was already strolling away from her. With a disappointed sigh, Bella turned to follow her tour guide into the castle. She was kind of hoping to make a friend while she was in Ireland and she had really hoped the gorgeous redhead would be it.

About two hours later, Bella had finished the tour and finished browsing the small gift shop the castle had. She wanted to buy a few things for Charlie and a few of her friends from La Push. It took her a while to figure out what to give everyone but in the end she figured they would just be happy to have received something from Ireland in the first place.

She walked out of the castle, flicking through her phone to figure out where she needed to go back. She was very thankful Charlie had figured something out their cell phone company so she could have service in the other country. She would have been very lost if she had limited access to her phone.

“Not even a hello?” A beautiful, teasing voice sounded behind Bella, nearly causing her to trip from the sudden voice near her ear.

“Oh! I didn’t even see you,” Bella said, thankful her face finally wasn’t flushing around the woman. “I didn’t mean to ignore you, I was just trying to figure out where I was going.” Bella said with a smile.

“Another tour so soon?” The woman asked with a tilt of her head.

“Yup,” Bella answered with a smile, “Another castle, I’m trying to find my way here, any ideas?” Bella asked as she showed the woman her phone with her next location on it.

The woman studied the phone and frowned at it.

“Another flop.” The woman said then gave Bella a teasing grin, “If you think you’re up to it, I can show you the real Ireland only locals would know about, none of these tourist traps you seem to fall for.”

Bella felt butterflies flutter in her chest, and excitement of being shown around by the woman was entirely what she wanted and something she felt she actually needed. But, she was a young woman alone in another country. Charlie had warned her against this…

She could at least ask a few questions before she did something stupid and have Charlie yell at her when she gets back and tells him about her stupid decisions.

“I don’t even know your name and you want me to just run off someplace with you?” Bella asked, her smile betraying what she had hoped were stern words.

“Well, excuse my lack of manners.” The woman said with a wide grin, “If my momma was here, she would have a thing or two to tell me about not even giving a pretty lady my name.”

Bella’s mind briefly short-circuited. That was flirting, right? Bella remembered all the boys in her high school trying to flirt with and the lame pick up lines they used, but this woman was openly flirting with her and not in a goofy, teasing way. Right? Was she reading too much into it? Bella would have to gay panic later when the gorgeous woman wasn’t talking to her and likely seeing her gay panic flash in her eyes.

“My name is Maggie, born and raised in this great country,” Maggie said, making her accent thicker to emphasize her words, “And what is your name?”

“My name is Bella and I would love for you to show me around.” Bella said with a smile, ignoring the small part of her brain that was telling her she didn’t know the woman anywhere near well enough to be able to just go off with her in an unfamiliar setting.

“If I play my cards right, I think I just might be able to convince you not to leave.” Maggie said, already knowing she would do exactly that… one way or another.

“I wouldn’t get your hopes up, I already enrolled in college and paid for my classes, I’m not about to lose out on all that money.” Bella said with a laugh, thinking the redhead next to her was joking.

“If there is one thing about me you can count on, it’s that I always tell the truth.” Maggie said with a smile that almost made Bella nervous if she hadn’t already felt so safe with the woman.

What Bella didn’t know at the time was Maggie never lies and Maggie never had any intention of letting Bella go. She had only let Bella go on the tour because she had to alert her coven leader that she had found her mate and that they would be hosting a newborn sooner rather than later. It was only polite of her to inform her surrogate mother know, she did have manners after all.
