Rosalie/Bella One Shot

Bella had been fortunate enough to get a week off from school so she could unpack everything and figure out what she needed, which were a lot of cold weather clothes she had never needed in Phoenix. Moving in with Charlie, Renee had gotten custody of Bella when she was just a baby and never looked back, had caused a lot of upheaval from her normal routine. But Renee was happy following her new husband around while he played baseball in the minor’s and Bella wanted Renee to be happy. So, Bella opted to move back to Forks for her last year of high school.

Today was her first day at the new school and Bella was never more thankful Renee was able to let her stay long enough so her first day was the first day of the school year. She had almost moved in the middle of her junior and Bella didn’t want to deal with people being even more gossipy about why someone changed schools in the middle of the year. Bella just wanted to finish her year and move on to college.

“Ready for school?”

Bella’s dad, Charlie, was already dressed in his sheriff’s gear and was drinking coffee with an empty plate of what seemed to have once been eggs in front of him.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Bella said with a sigh as she grabbed some bread to toast to make some sort of meal out of it.

“Don’t get too anxious, I’m sure the kids there won’t be too bad.” Her dad offered, “They might get a little gossipy because we don’t tend to get a lot of new people here, but nothing too bad.” He said with a smile before taking a sip of his coffee.

Bella gave her dad a weak smile and finished making and eating her food, only pausing for a moment to say goodbye to her dad as he left for work. Not long after, Bella too was out the door on her way to school. As she started up her new truck, new to her but definitely more than twice as old as her, Bella mentally checked over everything she brought with her. She knew she didn’t need to go to the office like all the other kids because, since she was a new student, her schedule was mailed to her. She was very thankful for small miracles since it would be less people she had to interact with.

She parked her truck, once again thankful for the thing as it blended perfectly with the other student’s vehicles. Well, all but two. There were two newer cars that looked to cost as much as all the other cars in the lot combined. Well, every school had their rich kids and apparently Bella just found their cars. She completely ignored it in favor of getting to her class on time. Charlie had let her go a few days prior to the school so she could at least have a general sense of where all her classes were so she didn’t have to get to school super early on day one to figure it all out.

Bella sped walked the entire trip from her parked truck to her first class, more than thankful for avoiding having to interact with anyone. While it would be nice to have some friends, Bella knew that everyone in the school had been friends since pre-k and to try and join those tight clicks seemed much too daunting for Bella when she would only be there for a few months. Bella may end up being bored on some weekends to come but it was better than trying to awkwardly fit in with people that had more inside jokes and references than Bella would know what to do with.

Well, Bella’s plan had been to try and just blend in and hope no one tried to drag her into the clicks so she could just skate by for her last year of high school. But this girl named Jessica and a boy named Eric, made it hard to ignore the locals. Bella had been practically pulled into this group of friends, who seemed to have two to three people in all her classes, and was forced to socialize with them. Thankfully they weren’t as bad as Bella thought they could have been.

Jessica was definitely the gossiper type, Mike definitely wanted to go out with her regardless of the fact Bella said he wasn’t her type and the others were good buffer’s for those two annoying kids. They weren’t too bad, just the nonstop questions were getting a bit tedious. But, at least they were nice and didn’t seem bothered by Bella’s high amount of sarcasm used on a daily basis.

They seemed to deem Bella ‘cool’ enough to invite her to their lunch table. Bella was actually a little relieved when she found out that the school was so small that everyone was expected to eat inside the cafeteria. Her old school in Phoenix was big enough to where, even though the student body was split into three lunches, there were too many students to fit inside the cafeteria so there were plenty of tablets placed outside to eat. Bella felt Fork’s High lunch room was a little like elementary school with having to be inside but at least it seemed the teacher’s weren’t actually stopping people from going outside or into the halls. So while the students were told to stay inside to eat, the rule wasn’t steadfastly followed. Even so, Bella preferred to eat with people rather than be a loner and eat alone in a random hall.

Bella was trying to not laugh at the story Eric was telling about his failed attempt at flirting with someone Bella didn’t know but didn’t want to join in with the others in laughing because it seemed Eric had genuinely thought he had had a chance, when she noticed students walking into the cafeteria. Normally she wouldn’t care who was coming and going because, well, she didn’t know anyone else that wasn’t already at her lunch table. But these students, they stood out more so than any other student Forks had to offer.

They were all incredibly well dressed and didn’t seem to look towards any one group of students, like they were their own group of friends and didn’t want to branch out to the lowly middle and lower class students they were forced to eat with. They all seemed otherworldly and Bella couldn’t help but compare them to angels.

As soon as that thought crossed her mind, she quickly mentally shook her head. There was no way high school students could be compared to angels. It was just some kids, all from rich families, that were able to dress probably in designer and that made all the other kids look plain and helped them stand out from the boring other students.

Bella was going to tune back into what her table was talking about, it sounded like Mike and Angela were trying to help Eric improve his ‘game’ from their point of views, but Bella’s eyes caught onto one of those rich students and she couldn’t turn away.

While she thought the other kids were angelic, this blonde girl, really a woman, was a goddess. Bella had to forcibly keep her mouth from falling open from how hypnotizing the blonde woman was. Bella was sure if she were to be struck down dead at that very moment, she would be a happy woman because she had been able to see that woman.

As creepy as it was, and Bella tried her hardest not to be compared to men and their creepy habits when appreciating women, Bella couldn’t help but watch the blonde woman walk with the other rich kids towards a table that was apparently saved for them. She watched as the big mountain of a man hold out a chair for her and the woman give the briefest of smiles, so brief that Bella was sure she wouldn’t have seen it if she wasn’t acting like a creepy guy.

“I see you’ve noticed the Cullen’s.” Jessica said with a sneer in her tone, pulling Bella’s attention from staring at the kids.

Bella opened her mouth to defend at least the blonde woman but she quickly realized that not only did she not know anything about the woman to even try to defend her, but she also didn’t even know her name. If there was one thing Phoenix had taught her before her move to Forks, it was that people that stood out were ostracized and usually bullied relentlessly. Bella had made the mistake of letting people know she was gay in Phoenix and she had quickly come to regret it. It didn’t help that her school happened to be on the religious side.

She knew moving to Forks meant she would have to keep that side of her to herself; she had little hope that the people in a small town would be better accepting than people in a large city. Bella didn’t mean to judge without knowing anyone, but it wasn’t exactly like she would get another perfect opportunity to move in with another parent; she was out of parents and she knew without a doubt Charlie was going to die in Forks.

Bella had to be careful. While everyone seemed very nice and accepting of her now, that could all change if they were to find out she was gay. It wasn’t worth the risk when she only had one year left in the town.

“Oh yeah, who are they?” Bella asked, mentally crossing her fingers no one noticed exactly who she had been looking at and would assume was looking at them as a whole.

Jessica then went into a long and drawn explanation of who the Cullen’s were. Bella learned the name of the blonde goddess, but that was all she had learned. Jessica seemed to fixate on both Edward and Emmett of the Cullen’s, both of them being the single males in the family. Bella guessed there had been previous attempts to go on a date with the boys and Jessica likely didn’t get what she wanted. The entire time Jessica was talking, Bella kept looking at the Cullen table and she could have sworn her blonde goddess had looked her way but Bella was too afraid to try and get a better look to confirm. It also didn’t help that her newfound friends were looking at her as they explained how popular and socially inept the Cullen’s were.

Unfortunately for her, she also found out who their parents were. And based off of how Jessica and Lauren were talking and how no one was contradicting them, Bella knew without a doubt she was safer to stay in the closet. Apparently the Cullen’s were adopted by two females, a doctor Carine Cullen and a home decorator Esme Cullen. They all agreed Dr. Cullen was very good at her job but they were all concerned about the two women being married.

Bella’s entire being wanted to defend the Cullen’s she hadn’t even seen yet with every fiber of her being; but what little self-preservation she had told her it would be social suicide to say anything. So, just like most people in the face of social injustice, she said and did nothing and only listened.

Thankfully lunch ended before any too bad was said that would completely force Bella to ditch these people who could at least entertain her for the rest of her high school career. Bella was very thankful that it was Angela and Mike, who thought the two women together were hot and saw nothing wrong with it, were in her next class and not Jessica, Lauren and Tyler. What she hadn’t expected and was surprised to learn, Rosalie Hale was in her class too.

The only extra seat in the class was next to Rosalie Hale.

If it hadn’t been for Mike needing to get his book from the opposite side of the school for this very class, he had only remembered when the first bell rang, Bella could have gotten into the class sooner to steal a seat. She could have taken Mike’s offer to sit with him and have Angela sit with Rosalie, but there was no way Bella wanted to put up with Mike all year. So, Bell gulped louder than she thought was possible and carefully made her way to her new seat; it wouldn’t due to embarrass herself by tripping on something because she was in a rush to get to her seat.

The teacher quickly grabbed their attention and made a quick introduction of the class and what they could expect for the rest of the year. After that, they went over the syllabus and with about ten minutes left of class, the teacher had the paired off students talk to their neighbor to fill out a ‘get to know you’ paper since the pairs wouldn’t change for the rest of the year.

Bella turned towards Rosalie and focused on doing the assignment and not making a fool of herself.

“Hi, I’m Bella Swan and I just moved here from Phoenix. I’m eighteen years old and have no pets.” Bella said, crossing off the first three questions on the worksheet.

Rosalie turned towards her with a grin that Bella couldn’t help but shiver at the way it made her whole body tingle. Being the entire focus of the blonde goddess was making Bella nervous, made her feel self-conscious about every move and breath she took.

“Hello Bella Swan.” The husky timbre of her voice made Bella want pool into a liquid puddle from just how nice it was to hear. Rosalie’s voice alone did all sorts of things, things that should be illegal, to Bella and she knew the year was going to be a very long year. “My name is Rosalie Hale, I moved here from Alaska and I would love to call you, my pet.” She purred, leaning just a little closer to me.

Bella leaned back in her chair and stared wide eyed at the ballsey woman.

Bella was now sure of two things: it was definitely going to be a very long year and Rosalie was definitely going to be the death of her.
